Job Description:

The Christopher Center is hiring a Weekday Circulation Manager! The successful candidate will be one of four Circulation Managers charged with the daily operations of the Christopher Center building. The role requires a blend of administrative, supervisory, and customer service skills to maintain the efficient operation of the circulation desk and building services. Using sound judgment, this person must address all regular operational activities, problems, incidents, and emergencies that arise. In concert with all other Circulation Managers, this manager provides the following: support services normally delivered at the Circulation and Media Desks (including collection management, equipment reservations, patron assistance, and shelving); supervision of circulation student assistants; and special projects as assigned.

Pay: $19/hour

Hours:

Academic year (August - May)

Monday-Thursday: In consultation with the Director of Access Services, choose your start and end times within a range of 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. (example: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.)

Friday: 9:45 a.m. - 6:15 p.m.

Summer Schedule, Monday-Friday: 8:30a.m. - 5:00p.m.

Major Responsibilities:

* Library Supervisor CMDO2 (Circulation Manager Daily Operations, aka "Circulation Manager") is the person primarily responsible for operational building scheduling and equipment; ILS circulation management; and departmental documentation, communication, inventory, accounting, and business-related activities.* Manage the day-to-day activities of the Circulation and Media Desks.* Supervise, train, and evaluate departmental student assistants, in conjunction with the other circulation managers.* Communicate with other Circulation Managers and solve routine problems associated with service activities. Communicate with supervisor and co-workers as needed regarding non-routine or recurring problems.* Recommend policies or procedures to Director of Access Services; assist the Director with all other departmental functions.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

* Some college education required. A Bachelor's Degree preferred.* Three years of experience in positions with management and supervisory duties in a public setting

* Exceptional customer service skills* Excellent oral and written communication skills* Ability to interact and communicate with clarity, discretion, and courtesy to supervisors, colleagues, the University community, and the public* Time management and organizational skills* Problem solving, attention to detail, and good reasoning skills* Ability to make informed, on-the-spot decisions and flexibility for working in a collegial, team-based environment* Excellent computer skills* Must be able to lift and shelve books. Position requires lifting, bending, and stooping.* Some college education
