Deloitte's Center for Health Solutions (DCHS) is a source of relevant and actionable insights on the most important issues facing C-suite leaders and other key decision-makers within the Life Sciences and Health Care (LSHC) Industry. The Center is staffed by data-driven researchers with industry experience who know how to translate insight into action and scale impact in the marketplace. We introduce differentiating, evidence-driven research that is intended to initiate meaningful engagement with clients and prospects, while enhancing our brand and credibility as a leader in the marketplace globally.

In addition to researchers, our team marketing and operational professionals, working together to design, develop, and disseminate content to support the LSHC industry practice. DCHS is one of seven research centers that form Research & Insights, part of Deloitte's Clients and Market Growth function.

Position:

The Research Manager works with the DCHS Executive Director, Research Leads, and key LSHC industry/sector leaders to develop, design, execute, and deploy research content for the LSHC industry. As a key member of the DCHS research team, the Research Manager will contribute to the advancement and quality of research/thought leadership, focus on analysis of complex data sets, and support key goals of DCHS in the marketplace.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct primary research (including surveys, structured qualitative interviews, and data set analyses on complex data sets) on LSHC industry trends and topics for research publication to support LSHC leaders, practice priorities, and client needs.
  • Pursue new research areas and methodologies that can be translated into hypotheses, collaborate with external partners on research and publications, and identify data sets (public or private) that could help test those hypotheses.
  • Use academic rigor and methodology required of public health and health services research, including conductingnovelanalysis and evaluation of publicly available and other industry data sets, economics, and policy for research publication.
  • Oversee research projects, including responsibility for scoping and framing, timely achievement of research milestones by the team, management of stakeholders, both internally and externally, and review of work by junior team members.
  • Prepare reports, research papers, abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations, summarizing research findings from studies or projects assigned and creatingtools for the industry practice
  • Present research effectively to a variety of stakeholders at academic, professional, and client meetings.
This role is evolving, and opportunities to expand responsibilities and take on more challenging tasks will be readily available.

Qualifications:

Education/experience qualifications
  • Strong analytical, research, and project management experience (6+ years), including extensive experience analyzing large, complex LSHC industry data sets
  • Interest in and strong working knowledge of policies, trends, and the business of the life sciences sector (biopharma, medtech)
  • Experience with designing and conducting academic level research
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, particularly those related to senior business audiences (both internal and external)
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into a compelling narrative with actionable insights
  • A high degree of flexibility and ability to handle ambiguity and changing priorities, with strong willingness to pitch in where needed and 'wear many hats'
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others, many of whom may be geographically remote
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
  • Ability to travel 5-10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
Preferred qualifications
  • Master's degree in public health, economics, epidemiology, health policy, sociology, health care administration, business, or related field preferred
  • Proven skills in people leadership, teaming, and stakeholder management
  • Ability to prioritize activities and manage aggressive deliverable due dates and workplan
  • Track record of high performance; consultative and strategic mindset; ability to navigate ambiguous circumstances and complex structures
  • Proficiency in statistical programming (SAS, Stata) and diverse multivariate statistical methods
  • Self-starter, independent thinker and resourceful
  • Public speaking experience
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $97 ,600 - $179,900.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
