PAY RANGE

The Target Pay Range for this position is $147,800.00-$180,600.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $114,700.00 - $213,700.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Employees have access to disability and AD&D insurance. We also offer health care and dependent care flexible spending accounts, as well as health savings accounts, to eligible employees. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan and employer-funded retirement plan. Newly hired employees accrue 6.16 hours of paid time off (PTO) on a per pay period basis based on hours worked (up to a maximum of 160 PTO hours per year) and receive ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:

As a Staff Product Designer for Credit Cards at BECU, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping user-centered solutions that drive our members’ financial success. Your work will be central to creating impactful and intuitive designs that align with our mission and enhance user experiences. By leading design strategies, conducting user research, and collaborating with a dynamic team, you'll help craft the innovative experiences our members and staff rely on every day. Your ability to translate complex challenges into elegant solutions will be key in advancing BECU’s design excellence and fostering a culture of empathy and innovation.

*** This role can be done remotely in WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, SC, GA, with a strong preference for WA state.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Discover and Prioritize User Needs:

Collaborate with product leaders to research and identify user needs and goals, ensuring that their voices drive our design process.

Champion Insights:

Conduct usability studies and gather feedback from various channels to guide design decisions and continuously improve user experiences.

Innovate Through Prototyping:

Develop and refine design solutions using rapid prototyping and iterative processes to tackle complex design challenges.

Own the Design Process:

Manage the complete design journey within your product team, from ideation to implementation, to address user needs effectively.

Create Design Assets:

Develop user journeys, personas, wireframes, and prototypes that transform conceptual ideas into practical and engaging experiences for both staff and members.

Lead User Research:

Conduct user research in collaborative settings, providing prioritized recommendations to guide design improvements.

Participate in Design Critiques:

Engage in design reviews and critiques, using feedback to enhance your designs and effectively communicate your design vision.

Contribute to Design Systems:

Identify and address gaps in the design system based on user research, contributing innovative components to enhance the overall design framework.

Build Collaborative Relationships:

Work closely with product and engineering teams to create cohesive and impactful end-to-end solutions.

Document and Present Findings:

Prepare compelling documentation for senior leadership, highlighting opportunities to enhance user experiences and design effectiveness.

Stay Updated on Trends:

Keep abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends by participating in UX communities, publications, and conferences.

Additional Duties:

Perform other tasks as assigned to support the broader goals of the BECU Design Studio.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience required. Advanced degree preferred.

Minimum 7 years of experience owning the end-to-end design process within a collaborative team.

Experience working with Figma with knowledge of latest industry best practices required.

Experience using qualitative and quantitative data to make informed design decisions.

Portfolio showcasing a full design process including cross-channel experiences, ability to deliver upon identified user needs with proven results backed by relevant metrics required.

Experience with most recently published WCAG guidelines, along with using guidelines to inform design decisions and product priorities.

Experience identifying and leading design sprint and team design thinking opportunities and matching project goals to outcomes of workshops.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience working in a financial institution.

Working knowledge of AI and its impacts to the design process.

Mastery of interaction design practices, documented ability to create complex design components using latest industry standards required.

Basic knowledge of front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks such as React and Bootstrap required.

Experience using multiple methods of user research to identify opportunities and communicate findings.

Effective Storytelling and presentation skills for a wide range of stakeholders.

Completion of Advanced UX Certificate program.

Experience leading the creation of Design Systems or UI Pattern Libraries.

Experience working in agile teams using Lean UX process, Agile certification.

Accessibility certification.
