Reporting to the Manager of Gallery Media in the Exhibition Design & Production department, the Gallery Media Coordinator supports the museum’s planning and programming efforts with a primary focus on time-based media installations for special exhibitions and permanent collection presentations. The Gallery Media Coordinator works onsite under the supervision of the Gallery Media Manager to assist in the preparation, design, planning, and installation of a wide variety of time-based projects for upcoming exhibitions and permanent collection rotations.
Please double check you have the right level of experience and qualifications by reading the full overview of this opportunity below.Responsibilities:Plan and execute time-based media installations to meet high museum standardsDevelop and define project requirements with colleagues across several departmentsCollaborate with artists and curators to install equipment in experimental settings and configurationsInstall a large variety of different AV equipment including projectors, monitors, speakers, and computers to the exact project specificationsPrepare and test media for installations using various types of media players and computersMaintain versatility and knowledge of diverse forms of media and equipmentOversee day-to-day maintenance and activation of equipment installed in the galleriesCoordinate equipment repairs and maintenanceManage Gallery Media equipment inventory and coordinate storageAssist with upgrades to and recommend new purchases for the Gallery Media inventoryCoordinate various ongoing and overlapping Gallery Media projectsQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media, Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Film and Video Production or equivalent experience2-4 years of experience working in a museum, art gallery setting, or AV industryCompetency in audio and video editing and encoding, media player programming, script building, and basic repairProficiency with Adobe Premiere, Adobe Photoshop, and design/visualization softwareAbility to read and comprehend architectural drawingsKnowledge of tools and their proper use along with an understanding of construction and building materialsPractice of safety standards when working with audio visual equipment, electrical equipment, lifts, and toolsAwareness of surroundings and safety maintenance when working in environments in various states of constructionAbility to bend, stoop, reach, lift, and climb to move materials and operate equipment safelyAbility to climb up and down stairs and ladders
