Job Description

As the Director of Forecasting within Gilead’s Oncology Integrated Insights team will be responsible for leading Gilead US Oncology Forecasting. This pivotal role demands both strategic vision and hands-on execution. You will navigate complex cross-functional projects, and drive impactful results with stakeholders at every level. This role is a people manager role with currently one direct report requiring you to balance people management with hands-on project work to deliver successful results.

This role requires leveraging a broad and deep skill set (functional expertise, therapeutic area knowledge, communication skills, leadership and influencing, executive presence, etc.) to help drive the success of work across a variety of key stakeholders – including business unit, brand and managed markets marketing leads, peer functional leads within Commercial Operations, Finance, Medical, and executive leadership. The role will also shape the Capabilities Hub for the Forecasting function across all business units.

*this position is based on-site (3-days a week) in Foster City, CA

As the Director, Forecasting you will:

Collaborate with key partners to develop short- and medium-term (0-2 years) demand forecasts. This input will be used by Finance to create a comprehensive revenue forecast. and support Finance to generate revenue forecast. Integrate market dynamics and expertise across functions. Analyze primary and secondary data to glean insights and understand their impact on forecasts. Develop robust forecasts, identifying key risks, opportunities, and drivers for executive leadership. Analyze market and competitor landscapes, providing insights for strategic decision-making.

Conduct national-level performance reporting and reconciliation with forecasts. Track forecast accuracy and drive ongoing improvements in models and processes. Clearly and concisely present findings and recommendations to senior executives and partners. Design and implement processes to link forecasts to key strategies across Commercial, Marketing, Finance, and Manufacturing.

Foster a collaborative team environment that thrives on shared goals and accountability. Develop and coach direct reports and team members, enabling their growth and contribution to forecast excellence.

Collaborates with a diverse group of stakeholders, including VPs, Executive Directors, Brand, Marketing, Finance, ManagedMarkets, Global, CompetitiveIntelligence, and IT.

Recognized as a subject matter expert, sought after for guidance on decisions impacting business operations.

Leads and conducts quarterly functional reviews with VPs, Executive Directors, and key stakeholders.

Fosters strong relationships within Account Management, Marketing, and Commercial operations, ensuring smooth collaboration.

Expertly navigates organizational intricacies with professionalism and diplomacy. Guide without explicit authority, confidently advocating for the methodologies shaping the forecast and articulating their unique perspective, even if it diverges from the consensus.

Manages external consulting resources effectively to ensure successful project delivery.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of experience or

Masters' Degree and 10 years of experience or

PhD and eight years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degrees desirable; Preferred concentrations in one or more of healthcare, general management, analytics, and data sciences.

Strong commercial analytics and people management experience; advanced analytics experience desirable.

Demonstrated ability to pull together insights from a variety of sources and develop strategic guidance for brand teams that result in a business decision or action.

Ability to direct key departmental changes through leading and mentoring others.

Ability to establish credibility and influence with diverse audiences and be perceived as a leader.

Highly developed skills as planner with ability to formulate, develop and execute strategy.

Must have highly developed communication skills with an ability to efficiently and productively communicate both orally and in writing.

Demonstrated communication and teamwork skills; ability to gain consensus and act within a matrix team environment; Ability to work in a collaborative and influencing fashion that drives to business action.

Proficiency in secondary data analysis with intimate knowledge of a variety of industry secondary data sources (e.g., IQVIA, SHA, HealthVerity, Komodo, and Premier)

Strong working knowledge of relevant software systems (e.g., MS Excel, Access, MS Word & PowerPoint, Tableau etc.) is required. Knowledge in AWS and Databricks a plus.

Proven history of working and delivering on multiple projects simultaneously, with tight deadlines and changing priorities is required.

Strong people skills and leadership qualities, ready for people leadership challenges.

The salary range for this position is: $221,170.00 - $286,220.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
