Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The

Grant Writer

identifies, researches, markets, and prepares proposals to submit to potential funding sources and agencies in order to secure funding for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):Conduct grant-seeking and funding opportunity research - research grants and determine those with high alignment and funding opportunities for BGCTNV programmingConstruct and write clear, concise, and descriptive grant proposals and maintain a grant materials toolbox for programsCollaborate with BGCTNV Program Services, Club Directors, and Finance Department to create program and project budgets for grant proposalsPrepare grant proposals, needs statements, program designs, goals and objectives, evaluation plans, and partnership plans for all grants. Package all necessary documents and attachments for grant submittals.Review and proofread grant proposals to ensure accuracy, clarity, and compliance with the funder's guidelines and requirements.Establish, maintain, and develop working relationships with funders, partners, and grantor agencies regarding funding inquiries/opportunities, grant application follow-up, and grant contract and/or budget revisionsCoordinate with Grant Managers, to ensure the accuracy of grant coding, and active/inactive grants.Establish and maintain a vast understanding of grant seeking software systems to identify new grant opportunities for BGCTNV - make recommendations for software adoptionsMaintain and update calendar management system, to increase visibility and accountability for the Resource Development Team, Program Service Team, and other staff assisting in the grant-seeking/writing process.Maintain Master Grant Tracking Documentation to include Active, Inactive, Pending, Grant to Apply For, etc.Take part in travel required for professional development participation including, but not limited to, grant-related training/workshops, national conferences, organizational research opportunities, and BGCTNV partnership outreach efforts.Qualifications

MINIMUM SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university1 to 3 years of working experience in non-profit and / or grant writing / proposal writingExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailStrong technical writing and communication skillsUnderstanding of BGCTNV Program Services regarding identifying, serving and meeting youth needsAbility to build relationships and connect with funders, grantor agencies, and partnersReliable and timely completion of task and deadlinesProficiency and demonstrated ability in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe PDFPREFERRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

Master's degree with a focus in non-profit management or related field from an accredited college or university and/or previous professional grant writing experienceWorking knowledge of budget preparations, control, and managementAbility to prioritize tasks and requests by importance, overall dollar value, and Club program needs
