Senior Writer with a keen eye for detail, experienced in creating a variety of content, and the ability to translate complex government information into clear, compelling communications for the public.

Position Overview:

As a Senior Writer, you will join our team supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs.

You will play a crucial role in developing high-quality, engaging content across various formats, including articles, blog posts, white papers, and marketing materials.

Fully Remote

Key Responsibilities:

Manage multiple writing projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining a high standard of quality.Collaborate with senior officials, subject matter experts, and other stakeholders to gather insights and feedback, ensuring that content reflects current priorities and messaging strategies.Conduct thorough research and fact-checking to ensure content accuracy and relevance.Adapt writing style and tone to match the target audience and brand voice.Identify content gaps and opportunities and propose innovative solutions to address them.Review and edit content produced by junior writers and other teammates to ensure consistency, clarity, and adherence to style guidelines.Coordinate with other departments, such as design and digital marketing, to ensure cohesive content delivery.Analyze content performance metrics and adjust strategies to improve engagement and effectiveness.Stay current with industry trends and audience preferences to keep content relevant and impactful.Maintain and enhance the brand’s voice and message across all content.

Required Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, English, Political Science, or a related field.Experience:

Minimum of 7 years of professional writing experience, with a focus on high-level government or public sector communications.Skills:

Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong portfolio of relevant work.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Excellent organizational and time-management skills.Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.Ability to translate technical information into clear and engaging content for a general audience.Excellent research skills with the ability to synthesize information from various sources.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with content management systems.
