Want to make an application Make sure your CV is up to date, then read the following job specs carefully before applying.Resource Requirements TCM seeks an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our team.JOB TITLEAirport Design ManagerCLASSManagementEXEMPT STATUSExemptNATURE AND SCOPE Under supervisory direction, the design manager will develop complex layout and design drawings utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledge, ensuring they meet company and industry standards and codes.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Coordinate project governance design presentations and input.Manage scope of each design submittal package and recommend cost reduction initiatives when necessary to stay within budget.Facilitate responses to RFI’s between the project team and Design Consultant.Coordinate and schedule design workshops between Design Consultant, HAS, and other stakeholders.Support the design to budget process including evaluation of technical design alternatives.Assist the Project Manager with constructability reviews during all phases of design.Document design-related issues, decisions, and actions within the HAS Document Control System and manage to resolution.Coordinate design review meetings and consolidate input from stakeholders, including third-party reviewers.Conduct design review sessions with stakeholders and oversee design feedback input.Work with the HAS Sustainability Manager to monitor and track sustainability plan development and LEED component tracking in coordination with the Design Consultant.Confirm all resolved design issues are incorporated into design submittal packages.Coordinate reviews of submittals/shop drawings from HAS project stakeholders.Support start-up and commissioning efforts as necessary, including witnessing performance testing.Support project close-out activities related to Design Consultant obligations and deliverables.Support HAS on the implementation of the procurement and contract strategies.Develop the scope and selection criteria; support Houston Airport System procurement as required.Verify all project-level designs follow codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.Establish, implement, and maintain the CADD and BIM framework, environment, policy, and procedures.WORK ENVIRONMENT The Design Manager is required to be accessible to clients via phone and email during normal business hours.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to work daily hours in an office environment.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering.Overall working knowledge of the architectural, engineering, and systems elements of airport infrastructure and supporting facilities.Demonstrable establishment of collaborative relationships with stakeholders involved in planning, design, and construction of airport facilities.Minimum 10 years of experience in the management of project design, including significant time at large airports.Experience in the design development of new/expanded facilities while maintaining operations.Professional registration is required at this level.
