The Designer will be part of a growing creative community at Axon and through invention and originality, will drive designs that inspire. The Designer will work closely with cross-functional partners in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Brand and Graphic Design, Product Development, and Product Management to deliver category driven consumer experiences that inform and align with Axon integrity, performance, and our innovation promise.Location:

VPWhat You’ll Do

Collaborate with design, engineering, management, business, and functional groups to design and develop new products through strategic thinking and process.Advocate for aspects of a product design that relate most directly to end-user characteristics needs and interests.Participate in research activities to establish knowledge based on users, trends, materials, and processes that may be applied towards development of new products.Work closely with product management, engineering, and customers to design solutions that meet end user needs while satisfying product requirements.Collaborate and partner with R&D to design and develop innovative and patentable solutions.Create documentation necessary to convey design intent to various audiences.Make strategic design decisions and recommendations for projects by consulting with design leadership, product management and business groups.Implement and organize design activities around schedules and project goals.Mentor and lead junior designers, collaborate with design peers, and work to continuously improve the performance of the team.Champion & contribute to the company’s sustainability mission.Represent & promote a culture of creativity and design while exhibiting overall corporate values.Maintain design intention from concept generation to final implementation.Interface with UX, graphic and packaging designers to create seamless product solutions.Drive innovation by actively researching, sharing and implementing new trends and materials.Effective design communication and decision-making skills.Coordinate with vendors to define and spec materials and processes used in fabrication and assembly.What You Bring

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design.6+ years of experience as a practicing industrial designer with a focus on product design.Strong sketching and conceptualization skills, combined with the story-telling skills to inform and communicate design intent.Advanced knowledge of product manufacturing including plastic injection molding, metal forming, CMF techniques, and Design For Manufacturability (DFM).Expertise with 3D CAD software (Solidworks preferred), rendering software (Keyshot preferred), and Adobe Creative Suite.Ability to prioritize tasks, effectively manage timelines, and produce long term strategic deliverables.Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail, regardless of timeline restrictions.Strong interpersonal skills, working effectively with individuals and large groups (internal and external) at all organizational levels and demonstrate a bias for action.Understand the customer outcomes required and are able to explain and influence with your work.Direct experience communicating with engineers & factories.Excellent time management, organization & prioritization skills required to handle multiple projects simultaneously within tight timelines.Benefits That Benefit You

The starting base pay for this role is between USD 112,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 168,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
