This role combines design leadership and project management responsibilities for envisioning, designing, and delivering successful leading-edge façade and enclosure systems. The ideal candidate will synthesize design, performance, and engineering requirements into cohesive innovative solutions. Strong leadership, communication skills, a flexible attitude, and creative problem-solving abilities are essential for fostering effective client relationships and making high-impact decisions across multiple projects.Responsibilities:Project:Acts as the lead façade designer and primary client relationship owner.Leads the façade and enclosure design of multiple projects by developing the conceptual vision, systems design, performance, and detailing.Manages the execution and delivery of implementation documents through all phases of projects.Develops novel façade design concepts and enhances the concepts of others.Oversees coordination of HKS LINE Façade Studio talent with client project teams.Integrates HKS LINE Façade Studio expertise and innovation into all projects, seeking opportunities for sustainable design solutions.Manages technical resolution and coordination of façade and enclosure systems.Reviews design work for accuracy and completeness.Establishes project performance design criteria for enclosure systems.Leads client presentations as needed.Monitors projects to anticipate potential risks and collaborates with the PIC, legal team, and client to resolve issues.Oversees product, materials, or systems research and evaluation.Delegates and holds project teams accountable for design standards, detailing, and performance analysis.May participate in site or factory inspections.Cultural:Models and holds others accountable to the firm’s cultural values, including a commitment to quality, innovation, learning, and growth.Facilitates team self-evaluation to distill and distribute lessons learned.Invests in the professional development of staff through mentoring and performance management.Develops, recognizes, recruits, and grows diverse talent.Encourages a healthy team environment and manages conflict effectively.Promotes communication within the project team.Financial:Manages project financial performance, including invoicing and collections.Prepares collaborative work plans for projects.Determines terms and prepares fee proposals and contracts.Communicates project job costs, budget, and schedule with the project team.Assures deliverables are completed on time and aligned with the budgeted labor.Applies skills to minimize risks and improve efficiencies.Revenue or Opportunity Generation:Leads new business development and marketing strategies.Collaborates with Business Development on project pursuits and marketing efforts.Negotiates scope and fees on contracts.Identifies and cultivates essential client relationships.Qualifications:Accredited Professional degree in Architecture.Architectural Registration required.Typically 10+ years of experience.Sustainable design accreditation preferred.Experience in all phases of architectural design and construction.Proficiency in Revit preferred.Familiarity with Rhino, Sketchup, and other 3D modeling software.Proficiency in MS Office Suite.Strong presentation and organizational skills.Ability to manage teams with a collaborative leadership style.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.Travel may be required.Base Salary Range: $120k - $170k annually – Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, New York, Seattle, Denver, and Washington DC locations only.HKS offers a comprehensive total compensation & benefits package with health, dental, and vision care coverage, 401(k) plans, life & AD&D insurance, and more.
