EL&D is looking for an experienced and meticulous

Instructional Media Design, Senior Specialist

to join our team. You will be responsible for developing and enforcing a style guide that aligns with the SCE brand to ensure consistency. Additionally, this individual will educate instructional designers on graphic design essentials to enhance the visual quality of our learning materials.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart, and shine bright:

Create and Maintain Style Guide: Develop and enforce a comprehensive style guide for all materials produced by the Learning and Development department, ensuring visual consistency and brand alignment.

Graphic Design for High-Priority Projects: Design visually engaging and educationally effective materials for top-priority projects, including digital courses, presentations, infographics, and print materials.

Training and Mentorship: Educate and mentor instructional designers in the department on graphic design essentials, including typography, color theory, layout design, and the use of design tools to create innovative learning experiences.

Collaborate with Instructional Designers: Work closely with instructional designers to understand educational objectives and translate them into visually compelling designs that enhance the learning experience.

Ensure Accessibility and Inclusivity: Design materials that are accessible and inclusive, following standard methodologies for diverse learners, including considerations for color blindness, readability, and more.

Stay Current with Design Trends: Keep up to date with the latest trends and technologies in graphic design, especially in the context of learning and development, and incorporate them into your work when appropriate.

The essentials:

5 years of professional graphic design experience, preferably within a Learning and Development or educational context.

5 years of experience with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other relevant design software.

5 years of experience with eLearning platforms and tools (e.g., Articulate, Captivate, etc.).

The preferred:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.

Knowledge and experience with remote training using remote training platforms such as MS Teams, Zoom, etc.

Proven experience in creating and maintaining a visual style guide.

Experience in mentoring or teaching graphic design principles to non-designers is a strong plus.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.

Experienced in design for both digital and print mediums.

Knowledge of accessibility standards in design.

Strong understanding of typography, color theory, layout design, and branding principles.

Ability to work a flexible schedule.

You should know:

The position's work mode is Hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
