Within this position you will be responsible for planning and supporting the Chicago and Houston Office's marketing and communications efforts, with an emphasis on pitch opportunity/development, requests for proposals (RFPs), practice group- and office-related marketing materials, key client relationship reviews, event strategy and content development (internal and client-facing) and collaboration with Marketing Department members in other U.S. and international offices.As the Marketing & Communication Project Manager you will:Work closely with the Chicago and Houston partners and the Assistant Director, Marketing & Communications, Chicago/Houston, to continue enhancing the profile of the offices, its practices and attorneys.Serve as a back-up for the Assistant Director, Marketing & Communications, Chicago/Houston, across all functions.Produce innovative and compelling new business materials, including pitches, proposals and responses to RFPs, using applications such as InDesign and Microsoft Office.Conduct research for new business, competitive intelligence and industry trends, leveraging Firm resources.Monitor activities of and communicate with partners, counsel and senior associates regarding deals and significant rulings; promote successes via appropriate internal and external channels.Partner with global Business Development team to compile competitive intelligence and industry trends.Conceive and manage all aspects of special events, such as educational seminars, webcasts and conferences, and social events, including arranging venue and services, coordinating invitation lists, producing materials and attending events when appropriate.Manage Chambers and award/ranking submissions for attorneys and practices (with the support of the coordinators).Help to prepare for and manage marketing and business development meetings with partners and counsel.Identify speaking and thought leadership writing opportunities for partners and counsel in collaboration with Global Events and Public Relations teams.Assist with any client-related activities and partnerships.Support internal communications covering latest developments.Liaise with other internal support departments (such as Client Accounting, Business Development, Human Resources, Attorney Recruiting and Development, Library, and Technology) for responses to surveys and ranking lists, as needed.Support internal communications covering latest development.In coordination with practice leaders, prepare and regularly update Chicago/Houston Offices and practice area descriptions for Skadden.com and other marketing materials.Take a leadership role with special projects that may arise from time to time and require insights from Marketing & Communications.Prepare and updates partner, counsel and associate biographies for the Chicago, Houston and other offices, as needed.Coordinate partner contact list management in InterAction (CRM) for the purposes of Firm mailings and event invitations.Assist with office-focused events, when warranted.Support local client-facing

and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion affinity group activities in the Chicago and Houston offices.Utilize Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, InDesign, and other software tools to develop collateral materials and marketing presentationsEnsure current knowledge of firm policies and practices for staff, current knowledge of industry trends, and continued professional development for staff.Maintain confidentiality, continuous concentration, alertness and attention to detail necessary to uphold SASM&F standards. Duties are varied and regularly require logic, analysis and discretion. Often handle issues not covered by standard practices. Provide direction on SASM&F standards (attendance, punctuality, professionalism, fairness, consistency and a hands-on approach to the job).Participate in the interviewing, selection and training process.Coordinate and oversees department projects, day-to-day operations and long-range plans.Recommend guidelines and practices to promote efficiency, effectiveness, excellent customer service and improved employee relations, in alignment with the Firm's Core Values.Ensure accurate and timely responses to requests for departmental services.Engage in strategic (i.e., long-range) planning by developing departmental goals and supporting objectives for assigned department(s).Demonstrate effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.Manage Firm resources responsibly.Regular and reliable physical presence.Comply with and understand Firm operation, policies and procedures.Perform other relevant duties as assigned.Qualifications:Broad and thorough knowledge of marketing and communications in a large law firm environmentKnowledge of relevant Firm computer software programs (e.g. CRM, database management, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systemsDemonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writingExcellent writing skillsStrong listening and consultative skillsExperience communicating with the pressAbility to synthesize data and accurately capture it in a narrativeDemonstrates close attention to detail and proof reading skillsExcellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, planning and research skills, including ability to evaluate existing systems and create new onesAbility to handle multiple projects and shifting prioritiesAbility to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentialityAbility to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environmentAbility to work well independently as well as effectively within a teamAbility to use discretion and exercise independent and sound judgementFlexibility to travelFlexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needsEducation and Experience:Bachelor's DegreeMinimum of seven years marketing experience required; law firm experience preferredCulture & Life at SkaddenWhat makes Skadden special is our people and the culture, community and spirit of collaboration we have created.
