SUMMARY

This position requires professional level work in the development of marketing materials to promote the Parks and Recreation Department and the creation and implementation of sales strategies to increase group sales and sponsorships for special facilities and programs.

Duties include the creation and maintenance of content for websites, e-newsletters, and social media accounts under the supervision of the Parks & Recreation Department, Marketing Manager. This position will be responsible for sponsorship and group sales (including but not limited to private parties, celebrations, camps, corporate events, and other activities) at Martin County Parks and Recreation special facilities.

In the event of a natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AMD ABILITIES

Develop and update a portfolio with the departmental offerings for group sales, sponsorships and advertisement.

Research, identify and propose for approval new business opportunities and fees to increase the revenue generated by group sales, sponsorships, and advertisement.

Develop and maintain relationships with key decision-makers at corporate accounts, schools, local not-for-profit organizations and other group organizations.

Customize group packages and proposals to meet the needs and preferences of the clientele.

Coordinate with facility managers the logistics for group reservations including ticketing, catering orders, and special requests.

Provide exceptional customer service throughout the sales process from initial inquiry to post-event follow-up.

Collaborate with facility managers and administrators to create targeted campaigns and promotions to drive group sales.

Meet or exceed sales targets and goals through effective prospecting, negotiation, and closing strategies.

Stay informed about industry trends, competitor offerings, and market developments to identify new sales opportunities.

Provide and/or coordinate facility tours for prospective clients.

Call, visit, email, and follow up with prospective clients to secure group sales, sponsorships, advertisements, donations and in-kind collaborations.

Attend networking functions and conduct sales presentations as scheduled.

Enlist the participation of the Marketing Manager and facility managers as needed to close sales.

Produce activity and sales/marketing reports.

Develop creative social media content (captions, graphics, and videos), keeping up with industry trends to engage and attract potential customers, promote the department's special facilities and increase group sales.

Monitor and respond to customer reviews, comments and questions about Parks and Recreation facilities and programs on review websites and social media channels.

Create and maintain content for email newsletters, including but not limited to the ones for Sailfish Splash Waterpark, Sailfish Sands Golf Course, and Parks and Recreation Department as a whole.

Solicitation and fulfillment of sponsorship, advertisement and in-kind exchange agreements.

Assist the Marketing Manager and Senior Marketing Coordinator in updating the department's Marketing Plan.

Assist with maintaining all Parks and Recreation internal websites and listings of departmental facilities on external websites.

Follow the County's ADA guidelines in the creation of promotional materials and website content.

Produce and distribute marketing materials to promote the department's special facilities, programs, sponsorship opportunities and group sales (including but not limited to flyers, banners, brochures, signs, certificates, business cards, postcards, promotional videos, slideshows and posters), ensuring all content is on-brand and consistent with County standards in terms of style, quality and tone.

Required to work regular weekends, evenings, and holidays to adequately manage group sales events, special events and social media accounts managed by the Department.

On-site photographer/videographer at special facilities and events.

Performs work related to this job description as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Skilled in the management of the different social media platforms.

Knowledge in fundamentals of photography, videography, and audio recording.

Skilled in Audio, video, graphics editing and manipulation.

Knowledge in group sales and private event booking including but not limited to venue and space rentals, parties, and private/corporate events.

Considerable knowledge of research techniques used in business development and/or marketing and advertising.

Working knowledge of webpage design and management tools.

Ability to write and prepare advertising copy/art for print and electronic media ads.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, customers, vendors, sponsors, promoters, business leaders, and the public in general.

Skilled in using the Microsoft Office Suite, Constant Contact and the Adobe Business products including but not limited to Photoshop, In-Design and Illustrator.

Ability to work flexible, non-traditional business hours, late nights, weekends and possible holidays.

Ability to be responsive to public inquiries.

Ability to successfully prioritize and manage diverse tasks.

Ability to conduct facility tours and presentations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business/Public Administration, Public Relations or related field and two (2) years' experience in sales, group sales, and marketing work.

Additional qualifying education and/or experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.

Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License
