POSITION SUMMARY:

This person will partner with their Senior Technical Designer, the Soft Wovens Design team and patternmakers to translate design's vision into a finished product. They will be assigned their own product, create tech packs for new styles and will be involved in fitting and communicating the outcome using both visual and verbal communication

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:• Organize and prioritize daily workload of assigned product to maintain development calendar• Develop and create SRS tech packs to communicate design intent, fit and construction with the support of the Sr Soft Wovens Designers and Sr. Technical Designero Tech Packs will include flats as well as construction sketches and garment measurements• Monitor and maintain fit, construction, and workmanship standards for your product category and ensure consistency across all factories.• Fitting Preparation: Measure, evaluate fit sample submit (construction, execution). This will also include having the complete style history to be presented in the fitting.• You will conduct your product category fitting with the support of the Sr. Technical Designer and take appropriate notes as needed.• Analyze and communicate the outcome of fitting with internal cross functions as well as the factory• Communicate with vendors regarding fit, specs, grading issues and construction via fit comments• Works closely with Senior Technical Designer/Soft Wovens Design Team to advance technical knowledge and to elevate the quality of the product.

QUALIFICATIONS:• 4-Year College Degree: Preferred with training in Technical Design• 1-2 years in the apparel industry in technical design and/or pattern making• Product focus should be a balance of cut and sew and woven; exposure should consist of but not be limited to Tops - Blouses - Dresses - Skirts - Gowns• Strong basic understanding of fit, balance and garment construction, and fabric reaction• Able to work with quarter scale and/or full scale patterns communicating fit corrections• Computer: Proficiency in MS office (Excel/Word/Outlook), Adobe Design Suite (Illustrator and Photoshop)• Driven by the technical aspect of the design process• Self- Motivated• Analytical• Detail Oriented• Knowledgeable about fabric, construction, draping, basics of grading, and pattern making• A Team Player• Able to work under tight deadlines and prioritize/manage workload• Very Organized• An excellent communicator, both verbal and written• Have a basic understanding of Grading

BENEFITS:• $70-80k base salary (This range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this NY - based position.
