Job Description
WCHS is looking for a dynamic full-time Meteorologist & Morning Live Desk Anchor. This person will handle the Live Desk and Traffic in our morning newscasts, and do the forecast for our noon broadcast. Our winning candidate will be someone who embraces social media and knows how to consistently engage with the audience with content beyond selfies. Collaboration is a big part of this role!
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Forecasting, producing and presenting clear and concise weathercasts, which tell a story and connect with viewersIssue warnings and alerts, produce graphics and maps, and report live during weather eventsUtilize social media during severe weather, as well as write weather storiesStrong \"in-the-field and live\" skills, must be able to adlib breaking stories for extended coverageExceptional written communications skills using a conversational writing styleStrong editorial judgment and a proven ethical foundationMake public appearances on behalf of the station

Live TV News experience is a mustAbility to tell memorable and meaningful storiesAbility to demonstrate experience with active and visual live shotsAbility to execute during breaking news events and add contextAbility to seek and find breaking newsExpertise in producing breaking news content for audiences on multiple platformsAbility to demonstrate enterprise reporting and creativity in story-tellingContribute story ideas to daily editorial meetingsPost content on assigned digital platforms dailyIn-depth knowledge of forecastingAbility to multitask while meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasksBachelor's degree in Meteorology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.Smooth/pleasant deliveryStrong writing skills and news judgmentSharp video shooting and editing skillsExemplary communication skills
