Seeking Enthusiastic Shabbat Morning Youth Service Leaders

We are currently seeking song leaders and educators to help conduct our weekly Shabbat morning youth services.

Shabbat Yachad is a 30-minute musical (ideally instrumental) service for our youngest Beth Amers Ages 0-5 and their grown-ups. Kids Kahal is a 1-hour Shabbat service for students in grades 1st-5th. Kids Kahal mixes a youth-led Shabbat service with other interactive activities. The service leader could take on both of these groups back-to-back or lead just one of the services. Both services will occur between 10am-12pm with some flexibility. These services run most weeks between September-May each year, with some breaks during holiday weeks and other weeks based on the availability of the leader.

A successful leader will have experience leading youth services and will have musical and tefilah ability and knowledge. Leading services with a guitar or another instrument is preferred. The leader will be excited to engage the curiosity and energy of our youngest learners and will find creative ways to engage this diverse group each week.

About Beth Am’s Shabbat Morning Programming:

Beth Am is a Conservative Synagogue located in the Reservoir Hill Neighborhood of Baltimore. We are committed to seeking Jewish responses to life’s biggest questions, fostering a sacred community in Reservoir Hill, and pursuing Justice in Baltimore and beyond.

Shabbat morning is a primary gathering time for Beth Am congregants, where Beth Amers gather for Shabbat morning services, Torah study, Shabbasana Yoga, and our innovative youth services. Our youth services are attended by a wide array of youth, including many children in our Jewish Discovery Lab religious school and others who attend Jewish Day School during the week. Youth services allow children 0-12 to learn the rhythm of a Shabbat morning service, build community with each other, and explore Jewish topics and themes in creative and Shabbat-friendly ways.
