We specialize in helping brands to increase visibility online by developing "share-worthy" content around the topic of consumer safety, important social issues, and trending topics. Our goal is always to create web content that gets people talking about your brand.What we're looking for:We are seeking a data journalist/content marketer who can create stories and data projects from beginning to end. In this role, you will explore, clean, and analyze data to find interesting narratives. You will report to our Director of Content Strategy and work with the Data Viz team to create visual assets for the story.Responsibilities:Wrangle data, including sourcing it (experience using FOIA requests is a plus), scraping, cleaning, analyzing, and preparing it for publicationExecute both simple and complex analyses depending upon project scopeParticipate in brainstorm sessionsPitch, develop, and write compelling stories that earn media placementsCreate visual assets or communicate with developers and designers to have them madeWork within and help improve team workflow and processesRequirements:A solid understanding of data analysis and the tools involvedProficiency in SQL, Excel, and either R, Python or similar languageExperience working on data projects in a newsroom, for a website, or for a personal projectAn ability to find interesting narratives in large (or small) datasetsExcellent writing skills and solid editorial judgementBasic interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skillsTime management skills and an ability to meet deadlinesA bachelor's degree and examples of published works are required for this position.
