Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects.

For a complete understanding of this opportunity, and what will be required to be a successful applicant, read on.We are looking for a Senior Datacenter Design Manager to manage the engineering scope, schedules, and budgets for greenfield, brownfield and retrofit engineering/design projects. This position will manage internal and external resources for the delivery of the Datacenter building, power, cooling, telecom, and controls infrastructure to align with Microsoft Corporation datacenter capacity roadmap for the Americas.The Senior Datacenter Design Manager will be responsible for the facilitation and delivery of Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter designs including the development of innovative technology and advanced concepts from Site Due Diligence through design development, permitting, construction, and the turnover to Operations. This role will provide design management, technical direction, decision-making and overall leadership for our datacenter designs. To be successful in this role the candidate will oversee the delivery of multiple, concurrent, complete Datacenter design solutions aligned with the scopes, schedules, and budgets of the projects. The Senior Datacenter Design Manager will engage with key Microsoft stakeholder groups as well as outside vendors who specialize in datacenter architecture and engineering.In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day.Responsibilities

Coordinate a team of architects, engineers and designers and deliver projects aligned with the defined scope, schedule, and budget.Collaborate with on-site operations teams to perform feasibility/gap analysis for conversion of existing datacenter spaces to new/upgraded uses.Possess a high level of proficiency in commercial and industrial architecture and engineering with a primary focus on datacenter design.Work with other technical and non-technical groups in a fast-paced environment and do so with an even temperament.Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, technical program management

OR equivalent experience.

2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.2+ years experience with retrofitting commercial facilities.2+ years experience with datacenter design.Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Additional or Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, technical program management

OR equivalent experience.

6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
