The Director of Learning Resource System (LRS) is responsible for the strategic management and operational oversight of the Learning Resource System, including both physical and electronic resources. This role involves ensuring that the learning resources meet the educational objectives of the institution and are accessible to students, faculty, and staff. The Director is also responsible for integrating the use of these resources into the curriculum, supporting positive learning outcomes, and facilitating ongoing resource development in alignment with institutional goals.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Resource Management

Oversee the selection, acquisition, organization, and maintenance of all learning resources, including textbooks, electronic resources, research databases, and multimedia materials.

Accessibility

Ensure that all learning resource materials are easily accessible to students and faculty during and beyond classroom hours, regardless of location or delivery method.

Curriculum Integration

Work closely with faculty and academic staff to integrate learning resources into the curriculum, supporting enhanced educational processes and student outcomes.

Staff Supervision

Manage and support the LRS staff, providing training and development opportunities to ensure high-quality service delivery.

Compliance and Standards

Ensure that the LRS complies with accreditation standards and institutional policies, and actively participate in the institution's accreditation processes.

Operational Efficiency

Maintain a well-organized, functional, and accessible learning resource system that meets the needs of the student body and faculty.

User Support

Provide effective orientation, training, and ongoing assistance to students and faculty in the use of LRS resources to enhance educational outcomes.

Resource Development

Continuously develop and update the LRS in line with emerging technologies, educational needs, and accreditation standards.

Budget Management

Develop and manage the LRS budget, ensuring adequate allocation of resources for the acquisition and maintenance of materials.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Educational Requirements

Master of Library Science (MLS) or Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree or equivalent education and experience.

Experience

Minimum of five years of experience in a library or learning resource management role, preferably within a higher education setting.

Experience in managing digital and electronic resources, including familiarity with research databases and online educational platforms.

Proven experience in staff supervision and budget management.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for extended periods.

Must be able to lift and carry books and other materials, up to 20 pounds.

Mental Requirements

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with staff, students, and faculty.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

$21.00 - $23.00 per hour
