The User Research group at 2K employs an array of methodologies to give developers the feedback and tools to make better games. We are a team of passionate, diverse gamers who know, analyze, and play not just our games, but all games (the good and the bad) to identify trends and to go beyond the numbers to provide insight into our research.

What We Need

We are looking for a User Experience Researcher to drive the research strategy and facilitation on a variety of game franchises! This involves partnering with studios to learn their needs and applying a wide assortment of research methods including playtesting, usability testing, concept testing, telemetric analysis, surveys and more.

We want someone who not only has a strong background in User Experience Research but who also thoroughly enjoys the process, the results, and the impact they can have on the games they support.

What You’ll Do

Deeply partner with the publishing and development teams to help tailor studies to meet the particular needs of each game team.

Establish research-related processes, plan for and implement research studies that help drive the strategic vision at moments of significant impact.

Clearly and concisely deliver findings on time and within budget to all relevant partners, including developers and production.

Manage collaborative relationships with internal and external (vendor) partners.

Proactively develop creative solutions to address research goals and overcome roadblocks.

Develop a testing schedule that provides data early enough for game teams to impact the gameplay experience.

What Will Make You A Great Fit

Proven track record conducting User Experience (UX) and Usability Research.

Deep understanding of qualitative research methods, frameworks, and processes.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, practiced in moderation.

Ability to analyze and visualize qualitative and quantitative data and transform it into actionable insights.

Experienced in building and maintaining relationships with cross-functional partners.

Passion for video games and gaming.

Preference for Candidates with:

A BA/BS in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Experimental/Cognitive Psychology, Statistics, or another related field.

4+ years of experience in User Experience Research.

SPSS, Salesforce, and Tableau experience.

Experience in the video games industry, especially AAA console/PC products.

Experience with team development.

Travel, both domestic and international, may be required.

The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $75,500 - $111,740 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
