JOB SUMMARY:

The Sales Specialist is responsible for establishing our client as a leader in quartz and solid surface products within an assigned territory for the retail segment. He or she ensures that all retail centers, including independent dealers, and Home Center personnel recommend our clients products as their first choice when selling to the end consumer.

LOCATION:

Chicago, IL

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with customer entertainment events, and other promotional activities as needed including weekend sales events.

Ensure customers have adequate marketing materials to support sales, including samples, brochures, and other collateral supplies in all locations.

Increase market share by elevating the number of displays and point of purchase (pop) materials within assigned territory.

Identify new customers and set them up with initial retail package including samples, displays, and collateral.

Develop and promote brand awareness with all potential customers within assigned territory.

Attend industry related events regularly (NKBA, ASID, AIA, NARI), build relationships, and report back with recaps and productive feedback selections of required events to attend will be chosen by the marketing consultant.

Develop and execute business plans for territory of all customer segments.

Follow up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity.

Gather market intelligence and provide data to Account Managers.

Identify and resolve any client concerns.

Maintain key relationships with customers.

Manage customer relationship: expectations, needs, concerns, etc., to encourage the consumption and sale of new products.

Prepare presentations.

Keep current customers informed and trained on new and existing products and programs.

Conduct product knowledge and other training classes for customers as needed.

Visit retail customers and support generating sales through building relationships with store personnel.

Gather market intelligence and provide data in Salesforce.

Report daily activity and monitor customer databases through company systems, Salesforce.

Frequent travel required within assigned territory.

Respond to all customer inquiries as it relates to this position.

Update and maintain customer database via Salesforce.

Maintain files and any documentation thoroughly and accurately.

Assist with other projects as needed.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:

2-3+ years of retail merchandising experience in the industry preferred.

Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet, professional manner.

Demonstrated ability to interact and build value-based relationships with customers.

Knowledge of the sector and products (quartz and solid surface products).

Eye for detail, accuracy is imperative.

Able to meet deadlines.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

Ability to be an effective team member and display initiative.

Possess strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner.

Ability to work independently and with a team.

Proficient with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Experience in a solid surface manufacturing environment preferred.

EDUCATION:

4-year degree in Marketing or Business preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; lift and/or move 35 pounds (sample box weight). Requires ability to lift and carry displays (80 pounds). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the primary functions of this job. This position requires frequent travel to multiple locations daily. Overnight travel may be required monthly. Position will be eligible to receive company vehicle privileges. Position requires independent working skills and timely responsiveness.
