As a member of the athletics communications staff, the individual directs and oversees content creation, aggregation, and distribution as a

primary contact for assigned sports teams – women’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis, and softball – while also playing a support role for other athletic teams when required . By forging strong relationships and embedding yourself within assigned programs, you will discern the personalities and stories that set the Notre Dame student-athlete apart from the rest of the athletics landscape.

This role will combine traditional athletic communications functions with a skill set that requires you to build relationships with student-athletes in order to amplify their personal brand, the program’s brand, and the Notre Dame Athletics brand. You will manage your team’s social media accounts, creating engaging, in-moment content to connect fans with the student-athletes, coaches, and teams while being a resource to your student-athletes, educating them on the media landscape, social media, and traditional media perception.

Present at events, you will be the primary contact between your assigned programs and Fighting Irish Media. You will manage the press box, media requests, and interview opportunities for your student-athletes and coaches. As an expert in content creation and consumption behaviors, you will know how best to connect the stories your student-athletes are excited to help tell with the audience that craves their authentic voice.Responsibilities:The individual is responsible for aggregating information, generating stories, creating unique social media posts, and digital media content based on team competitive success, student-athletes, coaches, and other related topics to inform and engage Notre Dame fans, particularly with time-sensitive information. Stories may be articles/website posts, video, podcasts, social media content, graphics, and other innovative media over multiple platforms.The individual is responsible for producing news and information for fans, digital and major media by posting and pitching stories, updating statistics/maintaining historical records, and writing releases for broad distribution over multiple digital platforms.Game day responsibilities include managing press box operations for assigned sports, media materials and media requirements, creating engaging content (i.e., behind-the-scenes video, etc.) for fans on social media, and writing stories.Other duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, promoting content and seeking opportunities to monetize content.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree (4 years)2 years experience with athletic communication or within a collegiate environment strongly preferredBe an experienced and outstanding communicator with experience in public relations, social media, writing, a familiarity with shooting photos or short videos (or a willingness to be trained)Proficiency in the Adobe Design Suite (i.e., InDesign, Photoshop, etc.)Experience in a collegiate and/or professional communications/content creation role desired, including managing media and statistics (StatCrew or Genius)Understanding of and compliance with NCAA, ACC, and ND rules and regulations is imperativePreferred Qualifications:Special Instructions to Applicants:Department:
