Interested in learning more about this job Scroll down and find out what skills, experience and educational qualifications are needed.JOB OVERVIEWThe World Engineer works closely with The World’s editorial and digital staff in assuring the quality of the overall sound of a live, daily current affairs program. This involves running the live board, mixing radio stories, and ensuring all equipment is in working order.What you get to do:Drive the board for a live show including breaking-news updates.Prepare and manage rollover shows.Connect and record interviews via apps and phone lines.Carry out sound checks and quality control checks to ensure all audio elements meet company standards.Prepare audio for podcast and upload.Mix radio stories, evergreens, and holiday shows.Ensure sound quality across all work.Collaborate with hosts, reporters, and other members of the team to create broadcast quality content for a national radio program.What skills you need:Familiarity with operating an audio board including maintaining quality sound levels.Basic knowledge of different audio software and platforms both analog and digital.Ability to work under strict deadlines.Strong imagination and a willingness to experiment.Basic knowledge of the creative use of sound and the ability to work calmly under stress while producing a live dynamic news program.Willingness to learn new skills in audio engineering and grow with the show.Ability to be a team member but also take initiative and work independently.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. 1-3 years’ experience in the production and broadcast of audio programs including some experience engineering a live news show.JOB SPECIFICSStaff position.
