Description

Are you the right applicant for this opportunity Find out by reading through the role overview below. The electrical engineer will work in the dynamic system engineering team in support of Department of Defense (DoD). This engineer is responsible for applying radio frequency (RF)/radar theories, applicable DoD guidance and NTIA manual, to review and critique the DoD RF/Radar equipment on its transmitter, receiver, and antenna characteristics. If the RF specifications are not complying, the engineer is to justify why the RF equipment not complying and provide recommendations to the program offices/designer to bring the equipment to comply with the DoD/NTIA/ITU RF/radar standards.Responsibilities

Participation in meetings of the subordinate bodies of the MC4EB Frequency Panel (FP), the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) Interdepartmental Radio Advisory Committee (IRAC), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), or other National, Regional, and international spectrum engineering related organizations, and for actions and negotiations as required to ensure that the necessary provisions are included in national and international rules and regulations which govern spectrum support programs.Spectrum support includes system spectrum certification and host nation coordination agreement for system operation in foreign countries. Attends various special working groups formed under the auspices of the MC4EB Frequency Panel (FP), which is responsible for DoD-wide radio frequency management and radio frequency records automation. This panel and its various working groups and committees develop and review directives, instructions, and other documents containing Joint radio frequency management operational policy and procedures. Routinely requested to serve as a member for one or more FP working groups, and to develop and coordinate DoD positions concerning various radio frequency management policies, procedures and operations.Duties include directing the research, analysis, interpretation and evaluation of technical data for conferences on International Radio Regulations.Directs the assimilation of necessary radio frequency data to ensure DoN compliance with the National Telecommunications Information Administration (NTIA) instructions relating to radio frequency management.Responsible for reviewing the technical characteristics of proposed DoN C-E equipment developments to determine the character and strength of emission in the radio spectrum and to determine compliance with DoD, National and International spectrum certification regulations.Performs engineering analysis and assessment of the accuracy of the equipment technical data using as a basis the fundamental principles of radar and communications theory, including all systems employing space satellite techniques.Acquire complete and accurate information regarding the technical characteristics and operational deployment of Navy electronic equipment developments requiring certification and spectrum support.Determine the compliance of the proposed equipment design with appropriate military standards, International Radio Regulations, and Office of Telecommunications Policy (OTP) criteria for electromagnetic interference (EMI) control.Determines the susceptibility of the proposed development to harmful radio interference and assesses the extent of EMI effects to existing electromagnetic systems operating within the same operational environment.Provides recommendations when necessary for conducting spectrum signature measurements and/or detailed interference studies on the proposed equipment development and monitor the progress of such efforts.Requirements

Secret Clearance or US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret ClearanceStrong technical background in the Radio Frequency (RF) knowledge, RF equipment certification compliance to NTIA standard, radar, windmill, RF design components (e.g., transmitter, receiver, antenna, filter), link budget, commercial wireless 5G/6G, RF modeling and simulation, experiences with various federal agencies (e.g., NTIA, FCC, DoD, FAA, DoT)10+ Years of RF Engineering ExperienceBachelor’s or postgraduate degree in electrical engineering, electronic technology, or another similar technical disciplineMust be either a US citizen or a US permanent resident with a minimum of three (3) years of legal residency in the United States.
