Senior User Interface (UI) Developer and Designer

to support our Space Force customer and contribute to the successful deployment of the Space Weather Analysis Forecasting Service (SWAFS)/ GovCloud solution.

The Senior UI Developer and Designer will have strong technical and team collaboration skills to help drive the design and development of user interfaces, ensuring compliance with government standards and delivering an intuitive user experience in an Agile environment. The role requires deep expertise in modern web technologies, including Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, Vue.js, and associated frameworks. Proficiency in integrating RESTful web APIs, ensuring accessibility (using tools like Pa11y), managing code with GitLab, implementing automation, and integrating with dashboard tools like Grafana is essential. Additionally, a strong focus on secure coding practices to safeguard applications against vulnerabilities is crucial.

What you'll do:

Visionary Leadership:

Define and articulate the UI/UX vision and strategy for government applications, aligning with regulatory requirements and user needs.

Product Ownership:

Oversee the entire lifecycle of UI/UX projects, from initial concept through deployment and ongoing iteration. Act as the main point of contact for UI/UX initiatives coordinating with the Chief Engineer, stakeholders, developers, and engineers to ensure project alignment and success.

Development:

Build and enhance user interfaces using Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Vue.js, while integrating with RESTful web APIs and workflows.

Design:

Create and maintain design assets including wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that meet government standards and accessibility guidelines.

Accessibility:

Implement and monitor accessibility standards using tools like Pa11y to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Version Control:

Manage and collaborate on code using GitLab, including repository management, merge requests, and version control.

Automation:

Work to implement automation strategies for testing, deployment, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency.

Dashboard Integration:

Integrate and visual data using dashboard tools such as Grafana, ensuring data presentation aligns with user needs and enhance decision-making capabilities.

Secure Coding:

Apply secure coding practices to prevent vulnerabilities such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), and cross-site request forgery (CSRF). Regularly conduct code reviews and security assessments to ensure robust application security.

Collaboration:

Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of UI/UX designs with backend systems and processes.

Quality Assurance:

Conduct thorough testing and validation of user interfaces to ensure high performance, usability, and accessibility.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications :

Associate degree with a minimum of 10 years of experience; OR minimum of 8 years with a Bachelor’s degree; OR minimum of 6 years with a Master’s degree; OR minimum of 3 years with PhD. Four (4) years of additional experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.

This position requires US citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

Proficiency in Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, Vue.js, and state management libraries such as Pinia.

API integration experience with RESTful web API calls and workflows.

Experience with UX/UI design and development including responsive design and accessibility.

Experience with accessibility testing tools such as Pa11y and understanding of relevant accessibility standards and guidelines.

Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage stakeholders, and drive product vision in a government context.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current Top Secret with SCI eligibility

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex design and technical concepts clearly.

Familiarity with additional front-end frameworks and libraries.

Experience in a government or regulatory environment.

Knowledge of agile development methodologies and project management practices.

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
