Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta
Directs a variety of key media and social media-related public programs for the Bank. The public programs managed by this people leader include media relations and social media communication channels. The incumbent will play a key role in protecting the Bank’s reputation. This position will also have a role in budgeting for these responsibilities. They will be a key advisor on message for the Bank president on topics of the economy and monetary policy.
Responsibilities:
Serves as a primary liaison between the Atlanta Fed and the press. Directs press inquiries, conducting research when required and consulting senior officers regarding sensitive issues. Directs team that builds comprehensive communication and content marketing plans, including developing protocols, messages, talking points and potential questions and answers for key Bank and certain System-level announcements.
Leads Bank president’s media outreach efforts. Works with the executive speechwriter and public outreach liaison to evaluate speech requests in order to ensure appropriate topic and geographic coverage throughout the District. This role includes staffing the bank president at public outreach events and coordinating with event staff and media.
Writes press releases and coordinates press interviews with senior Bank leaders, economists, subject matter experts, etc. as needed. Understands economic issues, and preferably monetary policy topics, well enough to serve as a content advisor to the Bank’s president and to the research department in order to select research that will be pitched to the press, and determines appropriate outlets for distributing content.
Provide strategic counsel and set specific media and social media goals that align with overall direction and business goals of the Bank. Directs comprehensive media and social media monitoring programs for the District that will help the Bank determine the success of its media and social media programs and track message pull through from president's speeches, essays and media interviews.
Develops and maintains relationships with staff throughout the Sixth District, other Reserve Banks and at the Board of Governors. Has knowledge of the Federal Reserve System, economics and banking and financial. Also, maintains and enhances professional skills and knowledge by participating in relevant system committee meetings, attending professional seminars and conferences and reading professional literature and appropriate Federal Reserve publications.
In this role, the director will lead team to conduct media and speech training or will make determination to contract out for these services, depending on staff need, ensuring staff are prepared to talk to the media and present on topics important to the Atlanta Fed.
