Amazon Web Services (AWS) seeks a creative, self-motivated, high-judgment, well-connected and experienced public relations professional to drive communications programs focused on developer thought leadership and service areas, including containers, serverless, monitoring & observability, and open source. The right candidate possesses extensive media relations experience, excellent writing skills, and expertise translating complex technology concepts into broadly digestible stories, along with a track record of exercising high-judgment while acting quickly.
The AWS Developer PR Manager partners with AWS service, business, and marketing teams to develop and execute messaging, thought-leadership strategies and campaigns, and innovative communications tactics. The ideal candidate enjoys diving deep into technology and is motivated by a dynamic, highly creative culture where the challenge of breaking new ground and redefining best practices is welcome. The candidate must be comfortable working sensitive issues and communicating with the media on issues that can impact AWS’s reputation.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Define, develop, and oversee end-to-end execution of PR strategy and programs to drive awareness around key developer topics.
Regularly interact with senior leadership to influence strategy and negotiate decisions in relation to service issues, announcements, and messaging.
Work cross-functionally to plan and execute PR campaigns.
Serve as a global liaison for international PR teams, helping to support international plans, service launches, and cross-functional PR campaigns.
Ensure factually accurate representation of an expanding portfolio of AWS services in technology press.
Manage sensitive reputational issues with internal stakeholders and members of the media.
Protect sensitive competitive, technical, and business confidential information.
Develop and strengthen relationships with key journalists, bloggers, and evaluators in technology trade and business press.
Manage complex, fast-moving, and unexpected communications challenges with high judgment and professionalism.
Support development and execution of events and media engagements.
Familiarity with AI and ML, including generative AI.
Current experience managing media relationships and a network of media contacts.
Experience supporting large press events.
Experience creating and executing robust thought leadership campaigns.
Experience with business-critical communications.
Excellent media relations skills.
Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
Outstanding attention to detail.
Deep understanding of technology and ability to communicate complex topics effectively.
Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment and is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done.
Ability to dive deep and bias for action.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $114,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $188,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
