Job Description - Polysomnographic Technologist - PRN - Night Shift (240000WK)The Polysomnographic (PSG) Technologist will work under the general supervision of the Sleep Lab Manager and clinical director to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, or patient care and education. The PSG Technologist can perform the duties defined for a Polysomnographic Technician and may provide supervision of other staff. The PSG Technologist will maintain all skills and knowledge sufficient to provide safe, effective and appropriate care to patients of all ages, including neonates, infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, and adults. The PSG will report to Manager, Sleep Lab and be responsible to deliver quality patient care.Responsibilities:Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs.Determine final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols.Perform comprehensive sleep studies including overnight polysomnography, Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), infant studies, seizure studies, CPAP/BiPAP and oxygen titration, ambulatory monitoring, and other specialty studies.Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing.Apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards.Perform appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals.Recognize patient's medical problems and physiological events and implement appropriate interventions.Effectively manage data for scoring and interpretation.Generate accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data.Qualifications:Minimum Education:

Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to an associate degree with an emphasis on polysomnography or equivalent experience.Required Skills/Knowledge:Good interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently, attention to detail, and knowledge of regulatory agency requirements.Required Licenses and Certifications:Polysomnographic Technologist License/Registration in the District of Columbia, certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or equivalent, and Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS).Primary Location:
