The Director of Music Ministry is responsible for the planning and coordination of a comprehensive music program to facilitate the full and active participation of the congregation in the liturgical life of the church.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Music
Strong knowledge of the Catholic liturgy and traditions, with a willingness to honor them
Experience in directing choirs and cantors in a Catholic Church
Experience and proficiency in playing the organ, piano, keyboard, and clavinova at a professional level
Proficiency in conducting and singing
Excellent communication and people skills
Minimum of 3 years related experience in music ministry
Responsibilities:
Plan all musical liturgies.
Select and train all choir members and cantors.
Conduct weekly structured choir and cantor rehearsals.
Research and select music for all liturgies and services, create worship aids, and prepare musical accompaniment.
Plan and play at funerals and weddings (includes finding cantors for these services).
Direct and perform music at 4 weekend Masses, all Holy days, Parish retreats, Penance services, and any other parish-sponsored events that require music.
