As SHOP's Health Promotion Specialist specializing in Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention and Harm Reduction Services, this position will play a crucial role in promoting the well-being and safety of our college community. In this position, you will develop, implement, and assess comprehensive programs and initiatives aimed at reducing alcohol and other drug-related harm, fostering responsible decision-making, and promoting a culture of health and safety on campus.The Health Promotion Specialist position has a four-week summer furlough. Positions with summer work breaks contain regularly scheduled periods during which the Health Promotion Specialist remains an employee and retains health benefits but is not at work.There is the possibility of one day of remote work per week depending on time of the year and program goals, to be discussed at interview.As the largest employer in the county, UC Santa Cruz is rated as one of the most beautiful campuses on the coast overlooking Monterey Bay and employs over 3,100 people in staff positions alone. Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Health Policy, Health Education or a closely related fieldThorough knowledge of the health promotion and education fieldThorough knowledge of the design and delivery of related programsSkills associated with both the development and delivery of health education programs and servicesEffective interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse client groupsEffective organizational skillsAbility to communicate effectively verballyAbility to communicate effectively in writingAbility to analyze, interpret and respond to student needsDemonstrated skills in a variety of educational methods including presentations, trainings, small group facilitation, and individual sessionsAbility to think critically and solve problems, as well as handle multiple projects simultaneouslyPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
