JOB SUMMARY:
The Director for Marketing and Communications will develop a communications and marketing strategy for B-CU that will increase its regional and national visibility and reputation. The Director will provide vision and direction for a bold and innovative communications and marketing plan, which will reflect the achievements and aspirations of one of the region's most historic universities. Working with key stakeholders, the Director will create and implement strategies to amplify the themes and goals of new strategic plans, to enhance enrollment and ongoing student recruitment, and to position the University for a Major Fundraising Campaign.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Participate in strengthening the University's website. Counsel the President on the strategic direction and integration of executive communications. Write internal and external correspondence on behalf the University. Prepare expert PowerPoint presentations. Prepare Excel spreadsheets as supporting documentation. Oversee proactive media relations and internal communications programs that are aligned and deliver consistent messages; disseminate information, research, culture and institutional values to targeted audiences, including internal constituencies, prospective students, general public, donors and others. Proactively promote university faculty and other leaders in the media (e.g., publicize their research and connect them to relevant media as experts and thought leaders in their fields). Develop similar strategies to showcase student and alumni achievements, working closely with key stakeholders. Work collaboratively with internal legal counsel and external media consultants while exercising sound judgement in responding to inquiries from the news media. Build a proactive comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that is based upon institutional priorities and major university strategic initiatives. Identify core messages that leverage and emphasize B-CU's unique strengths and academic programs, differentiating B-CU from its peers; and convey comprehensive and cohesive messages related to the university's strategic initiatives. Review and update university communications and marketing plans, utilizing print and digital mediums, advertising, social media, and media relations efforts to increase the understanding of and support for Bethune-Cookman University. Ability to conceptualize and produce videos that promote the B-CU brand to external and internal audiences. Have a thorough understanding and ability to utilize the newest and most popular social media platforms among prospective B-CU students. Work collaboratively with the Division of Enrollment Management to develop branding strategies to support outreach to prospective students that encourages interested students to commit to enrolling. Align concepts with the Division of Institutional Advancement to develop branding strategies that engage alumni and portray the legacy, pride and values of B-CU that will appeal to major donors. Manage a team of 5 marketing and communications professionals. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Master's degree is required 7-10 years of Marketing and Communications experience Portfolio of video, print and social media products Strong oral and written communication skills Demonstrated expertise in creative marketing campaigns using analytics, technology, social media and audio/video camera and post-production equipment Must be results-oriented with a demonstrated ability to work well with people at all levels of an organization. Must demonstrate mature judgment and possess the ability to develop relationships with diverse constituencies. Occasional evening and weekend work is required Working environment in a normal business office setting; Demands normal manual dexterity and visual auditory acuity; Typically, the incumbent may sit comfortably to do the work.
