Job Summary:

The Marketing & Communications Manager strives to champion the Mental Health & Addiction Association of Oregon (MHAAO) both internally and externally and is responsible for developing and supervising all marketing and communications strategies for the organization. This individual will oversee the development of goals, strategies, and implementation plans to execute comprehensive marketing campaigns to promote MHAAO's mission and services. Some marketing goals will include maintaining the brand integrity of MHAAO and strategically positioning the company as a trusted source for peer-delivered services and training while establishing the organization's status as an industry leader. The Marketing & Communications Manager will also oversee the launch and managing of social media and web content for MHAAO fundraising campaigns, direct peer support services, Peerpocalypse, and associated services and events to fulfill the mission and strategic plans of the organization.

The Marketing & Communications Manager will also outreach to higher education institutions to recruit interns for the following areas:Videography InternBlogging InternSocial Media InternWebsite Content InternMarketing Materials InternThe Marketing & Communications Manager will supervise these interns as well as any VISTA interns assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Marketing & Communications Manager's primary responsibility is to promote and support the organization's public image through:

Research, development, and implementation of new marketing programs, including direct mail, corporate sales, social media marketing, conventions, workshops, advertisements, sales tools, and other initiatives.Establish and strategically market and brand activities through social media platforms and websites.Ensure all products, services, and other offerings conform to brand identity; conduct ongoing brand management.Management of the creation and production of all organizational materials, including annual reports, quarterly newsletters, event invitations/advertising, program pamphlets, fact sheets, and development brochures.Act as point of contact for annual nominations of best workplaces in Oregon.Market MHAAO services by tabling community events, conferences, and other relevant events.Work in conjunction with the Director of Development and Community Engagement to participate in the planning, marketing and celebrating National Recovery Month and other similar events.Support the refining of MHAAO brand and messaging.Work with the OPTIC team to market upcoming training events and e-learning platforms.Manage and adhere to an approved marketing and communications budget.Provide advice and support to the executive team on communications strategies.Work diligently to contribute in a positive way to the organizational culture, helping to maintain a positive, friendly, mission-focused atmosphere.Comply with MHAAO policies and procedures.Create and execute marketing and communications, in alignment with organizations strategic goals and initiatives.Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational and Technical Experience:

Must have, at minimum, a bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field of study. Will accept any equivalent combination of education, experience, or training.Minimum 3-5 years of successful professional marketing, communications, or social media management experienceProficiency in the following technology software including Word, Excel, Google, PowerPoint, WordPress, or Social Media Management system (to maintain Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn)Experience in graphic design and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite - Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.Experience publishing content on WordPress, Squarespace, or other CMS.Skills and Knowledge Required:

Must demonstrate initiative, strategic and creative thinking, leadership, and judgment related to marketing, advertising, and public relations for the organization.Must have strong administrative skills and be able to simultaneously organize and maintain many projects with multiple priorities.Must have the ability to develop and create the marketing material necessary to promote MHAAO properly.Must show careful attention to detail and be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.Must have strong written and oral communication skills.Must have the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of colleagues, board members, volunteers, and program participants.Must also have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with all personnel in a team environment.Be able to exercise a high level of confidentiality and discretion.

Personal Qualities:

The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about and committed to the MHAAO mission. Interact at all times in a respectful, friendly way with all MHAAO stakeholders, including guests, residents, donors, volunteers, partners, and other staff members. Must be a good communicator and sensitive to various communication and learning styles. Is comfortable with the shared duties and daily prioritization shifts inherent to a small non-profit environment.

Ideally have lived experience of mental health and addiction recovery. Possesses an absolute belief in every person's ability to learn, grow, and recover. Possesses insight pertaining to personal biases and worldviews and how they may interfere with effectively working with individuals representing a variety of cultural, ethnic, language, and life experiences.

Amount of Travel:

Regular travel via car. A Valid Oregon Driver's License and proof of vehicle insurance is required.
