Job Summary
The overall purpose of this position is to develop and execute strategies that support and promote IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) products and services, as well as position the Society as a leader in the robotics and automation community. This position functions as an individual contributor, yet also oversees projects/people contingent on the initiative. This position is also responsible for Society marketing plan development and implementation, campaign strategies, brand affinity and reach, and collaborating with various IEEE teams. The individual in this role must be able to work with minimal supervision while independently managing concurrent projects. The incumbent will work across several related disciplines including (but not limited to): brand marketing, product promotions, Society visibility, analytics, member and volunteer communications, and social media. The Society is seeking a leader who has the ability to create engaging content and bring creative new tactics to the team.
The position will also manage other responsibilities including: research on competitors; attending and representing the Society at conferences; managing, coordinating, and presenting periodic marketing updates to various RAS committees, and the Board of Governors; and provide general staff support to volunteer committees, as needed. Additionally, the incumbent will manage the Media Services board and support all RAS boards in their marketing efforts.
Additionally, the incumbent plays a key role in driving the strategy, tactics and reporting for the Society. He/She collaborates with external agency partners and internal teams, and provides ongoing analysis, recommendations, and best practices education, based on results and industry developments.
The role reports to the Executive Director of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society.
Key Responsibilities
Day-to-day management and implementation of marketing and promotion plans, including the development of an overall marketing and brand strategy;Conceptualizes, builds and implements customized and effective promotions for all Society products, including membership, awards, conferences, and publications;Works closely with the RAS Digital Community and Presence Manager on integrating marketing and promotional content for the Society Website and digital channels;Provides strategic leadership for the Society’s social media presence in the areas of campaign creation, content development, and the monitoring of effort performance;Develops a deep understanding of all Society products and services in order to promote and market to the robotics and automation community, as well as related technical disciplines;Identifies opportunities for new partnerships across the Institute that allow for efficiencies, knowledge sharing and/or cost avoidance;Manages project timelines, budgets, and forecasts as assigned;Manages the Media Services board and supports all RAS boards in their marketing efforts;Ability to present in front of audiences effectively.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer) and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Facebook Insights);Experience with content management systems (CMS) and website management;Familiarity with marketing automation software (e.g., HubSpot, Marketo);Strong understanding of SEO and SEM strategies;Ability to use graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) for creating marketing materials;Knowledge of email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact);Competence in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau);Basic understanding of programming languages (e.g., HTML, CSS) for website updates and maintenance.
QualificationsEducation
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience marketing or other business related field or equivalent experience. ReqAdvanced degree a plus. Pref
Work Experience
4-7 years developing marketing skills outlined above, required; ReqStrong project management experience to successfully meet desired goals, required; PrefSocial media and/or website marketing experience, a plus; PrefExperience in event marketing, a plus. Pref
Skills and Requirements
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required to share thoughts and ideas with staff and volunteers;Strong analytical skills with a passion for digging into data to identify trends, patterns and behaviors as well as analyze data for actionable business insights;Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders as you partner with teams and departments, and Society volunteers to obtain the information needed to achieve desired results;Excellent presentation skills, including the ability to present complex concepts effectively to large, cross-functional audiences and leadership, both staff and volunteers;Ability to take initiative, work with minimal supervision, and independently manage concurrent projects to timely completion;Strong skills in project management and prioritization, analytics, and communication (oral, written, and interpersonal); ability to produce reports that are visually compelling and easy to understand;Highly proficient in all standard MS Office suite programs and Google tools. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite a plus.Must be comfortable with expressing viewpoints clearly, be open to challenge/other viewpoints and maintaining passion for executing solutions that are best for the Society.
