About the Role
The Sr. Product Designer, Packaging (SPDP) is responsible for the user experience and design of Ring’s out-of-box-experience (OOBE); guiding global packaging design strategy to meet customer needs throughout their shopping journey. The SPDP leverages their expertise in design solution and materials technology to push creative boundaries and define design standards in a rapidly evolving, scale-up environment. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, they utilize user research and data to enhance customer experience and drive improvements for usability, accessibility, and sustainability; delivering best in class physical unboxing experiences.
About You
You are a highly organized self-starter with extensive experience in developing and refining global design systems for established brands. Your approach to design is systematic and human-centered—considering the diverse needs of customers. You bring an expertise of layout, typography, and unboxing behavior to support seamless OOBE and visual design systems. You prioritize collaboration—adept at driving alignment and resolving blockers as required— to ship products on-time and on-brief. Above all, your design thinking is driven by a commitment to solving real-world problems through rigorous research, intuitive design, and continuous iteration, always with the end-user in mind.
Key job responsibilities
Scope and drive the creative development and execution for global packaging and unboxing experience.
Incorporate post-launch OOBE audits and feedback loops (user testing, customer feedback) for analysis-based optimization.
Lead continuous improvement to packaging design standards and processes.
Drive the architecture of short and long-term user experience touch-points across devices and locales utilizing user design principles.
Foster shared understanding of customer needs in addition to how design, technology, and business intersect to meet those needs.
Use business requirements and user research to assist in developing design systems, prototypes, high-fidelity mockups, and interaction specifications.
Drive UX solutions that endlessly advocate for the customer and ensure their voices are heard.
Define patterns to manage and prioritize ideation. Develop and maintain guidelines teammates can apply to scale globally.
Present to business, design, and leadership with design rationale using metrics, behavioral data, quantitative research, customer feedback, and usability findings to support your work and substantiate.
Identify blockers, develop clear mitigation plans, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Maintain design guidelines for international regions to streamline and standardize product packaging.
Meet all team deadlines and responsibilities by listening to others and valuing opinions.
A day in the life
You’ll partner with our team of designers, program managers, engineers, and content strategists to help inform, improve, and guide development of Ring’s packaging design systems. Working closely with interdependent cross-functional teams (User Research, Product Marketing, Image Production, Compliance, Legal), you’ll use design thinking and data to contribute user-centric ideas across packaging to reinforce consistency and cohesion for an optimal unboxing journey.

Basic Qualifications
6+ years of design experience
Have an available online portfolio
6+ years of experience building out templated design systems, mockups, and prototyping in 2D/3D.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience defining and maintaining design patterns and UX standards
Experience with UX design of complex workflows
Experience acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) and creating personas and journey maps
Experience with hands-on visual design

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
