Spotlight Delaware is a new collaborative nonprofit newsroom. Spotlight Delaware is a project of the Local Journalism Initiative of Delaware, whose mission is to strengthen local journalism in Delaware to fortify our democracy and inform and engage our communities.Position Summary:

As the Marketing Manager for the Local Journalism Initiative (LJI), you will be responsible for driving strategic marketing initiatives, managing events, creating marketing materials, and providing administrative support for marketing and communications activities. Your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, including social media management, membership engagement, website maintenance, donor communications, editorial support, and general marketing and administrative duties.Key Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.Strategic MarketingCollaborate with the CEO to develop and execute a strategic marketing plan, focusing on enhancing the general reputation of LJI and the Spotlight brand, donor communications, community engagement, and audience development.Membership & Community Engagement SupportAssist in managing email campaigns, including membership newsletters and community outreach initiatives.Improve and manage organic and paid social media workflows, create social templates, and align social media campaigns with email marketing efforts.Make simple updates to the website and ensure consistency across all marketing channels.Marketing MaterialsCreate simple marketing materials using tools like Canva (e.g., flyers, worksheets, online forms) and manage vendors for more complex design projects as needed.Coordinate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of marketing materials.Events SupportHandle scheduling, logistics, and organization for events, including materials management, setup/breakdown, staffing, and community engagement.Communicate effectively with community members and stakeholders to ensure successful event execution.Donor Communications SupportCollaborate with the development director and vendors to create quarterly and annual reports, end-of-year materials, and other donor engagement and solicitation materials.Coordinate with external vendors for high-end design projects.Editorial SupportAssist in promoting Spotlight news articles on social media platforms.Provide support with website layout/design and graphics creation as needed.General Marketing, PR, and Administrative SupportAudit and update/improve presentation slides, stationery, materials, and newsletter templates.Draft minor press releases and other written materials, issue press releases, hire marketing photographers, and make minor updates to LJI and Spotlight websites (non-editorial).Sponsored Content SupportWork closely with the CEO to project manage sponsored content clients and writers, gather images, and ensure timely delivery of sponsored content.Education and Experience Requirements

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.Minimum Experience: 5+ year’s experience in marketing, events management, or communications.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Strong project management and organizational skills.Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.Proficiency in social media management and email marketing.Basic design skills using tools like Canva and Adobe Creative Suite.Experience in event management and community engagement is advantageous.Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.The ideal candidate will have all of these qualifications.
