Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following full-time position:Technical Director in the Theatre Department.The Technical Director is an essential position which provides oversight for the Theatre Arts Production Studio (TAPS), contributes pre-production work (as needed), creates working drawings, purchases materials, supervises set construction, leads load-ins and strikes of all assigned events, supervises shop workers, and runs the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the scene shop, including the preparation of work schedules and the processing of financial reports. The Technical Director supports the learning of students enrolled in technical theatre courses (including Stagecraft) and supervises open lab hours and work calls with technical theatre students and student shop workers.Requirements

Required:

Bachelor’s degree. Three (3) years of professional experience in technical theatre. A valid driver’s license is required.Preferred:

MFA in Technical Theatre Production. Experience in academia is a plus. Experience as a technical director, carpenter, and welder and be well-versed with AutoCAD, Vectorworks, scenery automation, and scenic studio supervision is preferred.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

An understanding of academic theatre and a strong ability to collaborate is essential.The Technical Director will have to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, noise, working on catwalks at heights 20 feet to 60 feet above floor level, and ladders 6 feet to 12 feet.
