We work on a broad array of research areas and applications, including but not limited to multimodal machine translation, speech synthesis, speech analysis, and asset quality assessment. Candidates should be prepared to help drive innovation in one or more areas of machine learning, audio processing, and natural language understanding.Key job responsibilities We prefer candidates with experience in audio processing, natural language understanding, and machine learning. Familiarity with foundational models, speech synthesis, and machine translation will be a plus. The candidate should be a strong communicator, able to describe scientifically rigorous work to business stakeholders of varying levels of technical sophistication. Strong inter-personal and mentoring skills to develop applied science talent in the team is another important requirement. The candidate will closely partner with the solution development teams and should be intensely curious about how the research is moving the needle for business.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years of building models for business application experiencePhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experienceExperience programming in Java, C++, Python or related languageExperience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computingPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $222,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
