OVERVIEWThe public relations director is responsible for a variety of functional roles and responsibilities within the Public Relations and Reputation Management team. This includes leading client strategy, development and implementation of public relations plans, media relations, influencer communications, and event support. As with every level of PR practitioner, the PR director helps maintain a favorable public image for clients as well as Curious Plot.
RESPONSIBILITIES & SKILLS
Lead role in strategic planning, developing innovative ideas for campaigns.
Writing for a variety of needs/channels, such as key messaging, media releases, thought leadership articles, etc.
Media pitching and ownership of media relationships.
Active engagement with Integrated Client Team (ICT), when assigned with relevant clients.
Manage and mentor direct reports.
Foster learning through delegation and workload management of junior team members.
Serves as first point of PR+RM contact with client, including presentation of plans and managing expectations.
Ensure projects are on time, on budget and on strategy.
Stay current on PR trends and tools.
Lead and execute regular monitoring and reporting to clients.
Lead and manage influencer activations.
Provide point of view/insights regarding return on investment; work closely with integrated team to best represent a complete metric story.
Effectively manage up with supervisors.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in PR, journalism, communications, English, marketing or related field.
Minimum of 9 years of experience in journalism or communications.
Experience working with food and ag CPG companies and/or commodity boards preferred. Nutrition communications experience is beneficial.
Proficiency with various technology tools including Microsoft Office suite.
Agency experience is strongly preferred.
