Currently we have an Associate Designer role open. As an Associate Designer, one will design mechanisms, structures, circuitry and controls for products to meet Link-Belt goals of Quality, Cost and Delivery.
Essential Job Functions
1. Prepare and check calculations to determine size, strength, or other information limiting or governing the performance and/or design of a new or existing product.
2. Prepare and check detail drawings for accuracy and conformance to Link-Belt Design Policies.
3. Create layouts of new designs or revisions to existing designs.
4. Interact with suppliers to obtain component information and establish component specifications.
5. Prepare and check engineering orders per Link-Belt Design policies.
6. Produce and revise bill of materials per Link-Belt Design policies.
7. Calculate weights and center of gravities for components and assemblies.
8. Prepare and review assembly drawings for proper fit, completeness and including all necessary dimensions.
9. Investigate and design solutions for "sales specials" request as needed.
10. Investigate field service issues and make recommendations for corrections.
11. Support prototype assembly process as needed.
12. Support manufacturing areas as needed during assembly, welding, and machining processes.
13. Resolve manufacturing issues identified by production engineering, material sourcing, welders and assemblers.
14. Coordinate the work of other personnel to complete design.
Education
Two year college degree
Program of Study
Mechanical or Electrical Design Engineering Technology or equivalent
Experience
Minimum of four (4) years' of proven design experience in the crane industry or eight (8) years' in the heavy equipment industry, preferred.
