Submit your CV and any additional required information after you have read this description by clicking on the application button.Very strong writing skills.Very strong communication skills.Excellent organizational abilities and a strong attention to detail.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with co-workers, media, and the community-at-large.Ability to offer sound media relations advice to senior leadership and the District Attorney.Familiarity with technology and experience with social media applications.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related discipline.Three (3) or more years of communications, marketing, and/or public relations experience.An established relationship with local media is preferred.Knowledge of and history in Hampden County is preferred.MISSION OF THE HAMPDEN DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICEThe mission of the Hampden District Attorney is to serve the people of Hampden County by faithfully pursuing criminal justice and ensuring public safety with ethics, integrity, and fairness as our guiding values.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Act as a point of contact for members of the media.Write and disseminate press releases, in consultation with the District Attorney and other members of the office.Coordinate and manage press conferences, media interviews, and other media events.Attend the office’s public events and matters in court to promote accurate and timely communication with the media.Draft speeches and talking points for media and other public events for the District Attorney.Be available at all times to handle emergent and crisis communications and manage the office’s response to media inquiries (including evenings and weekends).Guide office messaging and communication strategies.Develop, collaborate, and execute on strategic initiatives and events with both internal and external partners.Maintain, update, and oversee content on the office’s website.Collaborate with co-workers and oversee content on the office’s social media channels.Act as a liaison and point of contact to elected officials and other law enforcement agencies.All full-time positions offer a State benefit package that includes health, life, disability, and dental/vision insurances, retirement plans, vacation, personal and sick leave, and more. Payroll is paid bi-weekly and based on a 37.5 hour work week (normally 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of a background check. All positions serve at the pleasure of the District Attorney.
