Headquartered in Coon Rapids, MN and production facilities are based in La Crosse, WI.CAD Manager – Senior DesignerThe CAD Manager- Senior Designer position involves coordinating with engineers, the CAD department, and manufacturing teams to ensure stakeholder satisfaction with projects. This role not only reviews project performance and potential improvements but also oversees the CAD team's operations, including managing and mentoring team members. The CAD Manager- Senior Designer assesses potential new uses for CAD within the organization, keeps the department’s software, techniques, and tools up to date, establishes departmental mechanical design standards, and ensures design for manufacturability. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining technical drawings, visual representations of products, assembly instructions, and ensuring adherence to common practices within the CAD team.Job Duties:·

Leadership and Team ManagementSupervise and mentor the CAD team, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality outputs and professional developmentEnsures CAD team can maintain schedule and quality requirements from production, providing layout plans according to the master scheduleConduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team membersOversee and manage CAD-related projects, ensuring they align with organizational goals and deadlinesCoordinate with engineers, production and other department heads to ensure seamless communication and project alignmentFacilitate weekly and daily meetings with the factory and other departments to discuss progress and address issuesLead continuous design and process improvements and foster a collaborative team environment to achieve common goals and objectives·

Technical ResponsibilitiesProficiently use AutoCAD and SolidWorks for the layout of HVAC units and other design tasksCreate and maintain technical documentation for manufacturing and assembling unitsAssist in designing for manufacturability and developing innovative designsEnsure all CAD processes adhere to established departmental standards for software, techniques, and toolsSupport the resolution of field issues and assist with unit testing and finalizing documentationObserve and review quality improvements in collaboration with the quality managerRequirements·

MinimumEducation & Experience:

2-Year Technical Degree in Mechanical Drafting, Design, or EngineeringMinimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical or industrial design

Proven experience in leading teams or projectsDesign experience with sheet metal and fabricationManagement Skills

Strong leadership and team management abilitiesEffective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teamsProblem-solving and decision-making skills to optimize the CAD design processProject management skills to ensure timely and on-budget delivery of designsDetail-oriented with the ability to plan, organize, set priorities, and manage multiple projects

Other Requirements:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel for creating charts and performing calculationsPerforms effectively in ambiguous situationsStrong organizational skills and the ability to analyze and solve problemsResponsible, personable, with a strong work ethic and a collaborative approachAbility to work independently with minimal supervision
