Position OverviewThis role, in collaboration with the Director of Global Marketing and Communications, is responsible for the design, development, implementation and evaluation of a global communications strategy for BCLP - Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner. With a clear goal of raising the profile of the firm and its experts across our practice groups globally, through a media relations strategy and reputation management strategy, this role is critical to the Marketing and Communications function and the BCLP brand. In this role you will have responsibility for enhancing our reputation and awareness of the firms’ services and capabilities through the firm’s communication efforts both internally and externally. The successful candidate will lead strategically and be willing to engage significantly in operational activities, working collaboratively with the Director of Global Marketing and Communications, the Global CMO, the BCLP leadership team as well as key marketing and operational leaders and other key stakeholders across the firm.
Responsibilities
Work to develop the global communications strategy, both in relation to internal and external communications
Lead strategic communications planning and execution to support business activities and strategic objectives, working with subject matter experts, in support of major business change, regulation, growth initiatives and RFPs, as needed
Act as crisis and reputation management lead for the Firm
Oversee best practice in the delivery and creation of communications assets for the firm across multiple channels
Provide leadership and guidance on global and local market opportunities and challenges across each region
Lead, manage, and develop consistent global communications processes and procedures
Build collaborative relationships with Practice Group, Business Services and country leadership, stakeholders and colleagues across the Firm
Drive innovation, spot creative opportunities and motivate colleagues to deliver great work
Be the lead with the PR agencies in respect of all aspects of communications and provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement
Ensure appropriate KPI’s and measurement structures are in place, to be able to take data and apply learnings to the future development of communications strategy
Develop and leverage a broad range of internal communications channels appropriate to the needs of the global and local internal audience(s)
Collaborate with internal teams to understand issues and develop messaging and distribute client-facing communications
Manage budget and expenses accurately and in a timely manner
Is a role model to a communications team and leads with assertiveness and expertise
Performs other duties as assigned

Demonstrated track record of excellence in managing global and integrated external and internal communications for a complex global organization
Comfortable working with, and taking direction from, multiple stakeholders around the world and can adapt in the role as the global communications team scales up and builds new capabilities and takes on new responsibilities
Able to operate in a highly matrixed organization and can influence the actions of the organization's most senior leaders: in-country, regionally and globally, across business and function
Able to present and defend a point of view with the senior leadership team, internal colleagues and among clients regarding how to best position BCLP within the competitive landscape
High-functioning, proactive individual who can handle stressful situations to include crisis communications; effectively prioritizes multiple demands on her/his time; transitions easily from day-to-day tasks to high-profile, critical time sensitive situations
Strong leadership and communication skills, able to inspire internal and agency teams
Experience of developing communications strategies and able to prove the effectiveness of all communication channels
Capable of working across geographies – transatlantic experience is a real advantage
Ability and track record of delivering strong agency relationships
Able to act and think in an agile, flexible way, focused on detail and delivery excellence
Ability to work varying hours as part of a global team
Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has direct and indirect supervisory responsibilities.
TravelThis position requires the ability to travel domestically and internationally
Education/Experience/Certifications
Bachelor’s degree (ideally in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field)
Minimum five (5) years’ supervisory experience required
Minimum ten (10) years’ marketing experience preferred
Legal or professional services industry experience preferred
