The Director of Choral Music for Overland Park Christian Church leads and directs the OPCC Chancel Choir. This staff member works collaboratively with the Senior Pastor and other music staff to plan choral music aligning with spiritual worship themes, including innovative and blended styles of music that enhance and support varied worship experiences. The Director of Choral Music may also secure special music from OPCC congregants or from the community as requested.

Below covers everything you need to know about what this opportunity entails, as well as what is expected from applicants.Duties:Plan, organize and lead the Chancel Choir programRehearse the Chancel Choir weekly, September through MayConduct the Chancel Choir in Sunday worship at least once a monthHelp bridge generational and cultural differences by selecting a balance of musical genresPromote and lead fellowship and supportive care of this small group within the OPCC communityHelp recruit new volunteers for Chancel ChoirCollaborate with the Senior Pastor, other music staff, and the Worship and Arts Commission to plan worship and special eventsWhen scheduled, arrange for and prepare choral music components for special liturgical services (Christmas Eve, Good Friday, Easter, etc.)Maintain effective communication with the Senior Pastor, other music staff, and Communications CoordinatorOversee the upkeep of the choral music libraryAcquire music and supplies, in consultation with music staff, and adhering to approved budgetsStrictly adhere to the OPCC policies including the Safe Sanctuary Policy and Employee HandbookQualifications:A degree in music is preferred, but not required (consideration for student interns includes working towards a degree)Ability to teach and rehearse choral musicians at various levels of proficiencyExperience in leading choral music groups, preferred, but not requiredCommitment to using music to enhance the Christian worship experienceStrong communication, organization, and teamwork skillsA background check will be conducted, and results will be consideredJob Type: Part-timePay: $12,000.00 - $15,000.00 per yearExpected hours: 6 – 8 per weekBenefits:Paid time offParental leaveProfessional development assistanceSchedule:HolidaysPeople with a criminal record are encouraged to applyEducation:High school or equivalent (Required)Language:English (Required)Ability to Commute:Overland Park, KS 66204 (Required)Work Location:
