Under the general supervision of the Child Life Manager, provides comprehensive music therapy services for pediatric patients and family members that meet emotional, physical, cognitive, social/cultural, and communicative needs. Provides music therapy services for patients and families at the end of life and at hospital-based memorial services in collaboration with the psychosocial team. Provides in-service education to interdisciplinary staff. Documents music therapy interventions in patient charts. Communicates effectively with child life staff and other members of the interdisciplinary health care team on clinical care planning and issues revealed through music therapy sessions. Supervises volunteers and interns providing music-based interventions. Maintains accurate music therapy statistics.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy or equivalent as required for certification by the American Music Therapy AssociationMinimum 6 months of experience working as a music therapist with children in a healthcare environment preferred; or the equivalent full-time experience as a music therapist with children in a school or other community settingPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Music Therapy; 3-5 years of experience working as a music therapistLicense/Certification:Board Certified (MT-BC), or the designation of Registered, Certified, or Advanced Certified Music Therapist (RMT, CMT, or ACMT) by the American Music Therapy AssociationAbout UCSF:
