$200,333 - $278,240 Commensurate with experience and location.Description JSI is a global nonprofit dedicated to improving the health of individuals and communities around the world through greater health, education and socioeconomic equity for individuals and communities. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Vice President (VP) of Communications will be responsible for the development of JSI's external and internal communication strategy in alignment with the organization’s division level strategic plans. The VP will also contribute to JSI's organizational strategic planning process alongside key organizational leaders. This position will be based in Boston or Washington, DC.RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement an organizational communications strategy to advance JSI's brand identity and increase the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences.Develop, execute, and assess integrated strategic communications programs encompassing editorial content creation, media relations, digital communications, executive communications, publications, and marketing campaigns.Oversee the organization’s digital communications and ensure a cohesive digital presence for JSI and affiliate organizations.Supervise the development of marketing and public relations plans to support leaders across JSI in cultivating relationships with priority stakeholders.Manage press relationships to ensure coverage surrounding JSI programs, special events, and public announcements.Develop crisis communication plans in collaboration with JSI leaders to protect the organization’s reputation during challenging situations.Create effective internal communication strategies to foster a culture of transparency and engagement within the organization.Collaborate with leadership to align internal and external communications platforms with brand identity.Promote mentorship and consistency among JSI’s global team of communications professionals.Implement metrics across the organization’s communication activities to measure impact and return on investment.Oversee resource planning for a responsive communications function across JSI.Cultivate and manage communications leadership to support the execution of the communications strategy.Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and quality.QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in journalism, communications, or related field is required.At least ten years’ experience in managing a comprehensive strategic communications, media relations, and marketing program.Minimum of 15 years progressive communications experience, including planning, writing, editing, and production of various publications.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships within the organization and externally.Excellent leadership and mentorship skills.Understanding of the international development sector and the US public health sector.Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.Fluency in English required; additional languages are an asset.Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business goals into actionable initiatives.Willingness to travel as necessary (~10-15%).Interested candidates should submit their resumes and cover letters online by 10/31/2024.No phone calls please.
