The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking an expert storyteller to drive brand recognition and consistency in the communities that we serve. The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of experience in communications, with a proven track record of leading successful communication strategies for nonprofit organizations and understands the unique role strategic communications plays in advancing an organization’s mission and philanthropic efforts. In addition to donor and fundraising messaging strategy, this role also oversees crisis communications, internal/employee communications, media relations, and public relations.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.

7-10 years of experience leading communications efforts for a nonprofit, government, or regional corporation.

2-3 years of experience in fundraising and/or donor communications.

Proven expertise in crisis communications, with the ability to effectively manage and respond to high-pressure situations.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.

Strong leadership and management skills, with experience leading and mentoring a team.

Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful communications strategies that achieve measurable results.

Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
