Summary
The Student Media Business Manager is responsible for all advertising and underwriting that comes into the department. The Business Manager will create press packs for the department, develop relationships with area businesses, invoice all businesses, and maintain the revenue spreadsheets. The Student Media Business Manager works with the Student Media Leadership Committee in finding identify potential revenue and building relationships within the community. Since this position deals with the financial state of the department, it will be expected that the Business Manager keep the information regarding the financial state of the department confidential. It is required that any student in this position MUST BE a business major. It is also preferred that this student receive internship credit while in this position.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Is in charge of securing advertisements and underwriting for the Department of Student Media.
Sends out press packets to local area and national businesses.
Build working relationships with local area businesses.
Bill businesses for advertisements and underwriting run online or on-air
Recording invoices and payments received in an excel spreadsheetMaintaining and organizing department log book
Making copies of checks received for the Department for recording keeping.
Giving received checks to Director of Student Media for deposit.
Maintaining price sheets for the department
Works with the Student Media Designer and client on any potential advertisements that need to be created.Familiar with all FCC rules and regulations regarding underwriting and on-air announcements.
Attending staff meetings
Is a leading member of the Student Media Leadership Team
Maintain weekly-posted office hours in The Xavierite office (6 hours per week).
