Job SummaryThe Senior Public Relations and Community Engagement Manager will oversee and execute public relations and community engagement activities for the Utah region, building and strengthening media and community relationships to enhance the Mountain America Credit Union (MACU) brand. This role involves strategic planning, managing brand reputation, and serving as a company spokesperson. The position requires expertise in complex issue resolution, leadership, and a thorough understanding of media relations and public relations strategies.

trategic Leadership and Coordination:Work with internal and external/agency resources to develop annual strategy, plan, and campaigns to achieve public relations and community engagement goals for the year, including awareness/community building, engagement/education and advocacy.Coordinate public relations activities ensuring alignment with corporate PR resources.Maintain a keen understanding of industry trends affecting members and makes appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy.Gather and analyze data, providing analytic reporting to Director of Public Relations and Community Engagement and SVP Public Relations and Organizational Communications.Monitor, analyze, and communicate PR and marketing results regularly.Organizational and Community Relations:

Develop multifunctional leadership and support PR ambassadors and branch managers in developing public relations skills.Build and maintain relationships with Chambers of Commerce and community leaders and serve as MACU representative on government and community boards as assigned.Cultivate new contacts within business and industry media to raise industry awareness.Brand and Reputation Management:

Manage both internal and external brand and reputation matters, ensuring consistency and alignment with the company's values and messaging.Monitor and enhance the organization's reputation through proactive communication and strategic initiatives.Handle unique situations, helping to set functional policy and direction for public relations and community relations team.Media Relations and

Placements:

Craft and implement a robust media relations strategy, aiming for high-level placements in print, broadcast, and online media.Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and influencers.Research and write clear, concise, and effective press releases, pitch letters, bylined articles, and other PR documents.Write press releases and pitch stories to the press.Serve as the company spokesperson as assigned.Vendor Selection and Management :

Identify, evaluate, and select external vendors and partners for PR-related services.Maintain effective relationships with vendors, ensuring quality service delivery and cost-effectiveness.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Experience:

Ten or more years of progressively responsible experience in public relations, writing, strategic communications, and marketing communications.

Education:

A bachelor's degree in public relations, Communications, Marketing, Business, or equivalent. A master's degree is preferred.

Knowledge:

Extensive exposure to complex practices across different disciplines. Leverage trends in specialized areas to influence strategy. Thorough knowledge of Public Relations and related disciplines to anticipate impact across the organization.

Skills:

Public speaking, leadership, and talent management. Strategic thinking and strong conceptual skills. Social media strategy, solid judgment, and financial literacy. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, HTML, and social media platforms.

Abilities:

Read, understand, and execute written and oral instructions. Excellent presentation, listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Proactive self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities. Creative, energetic, and imaginative with effective time management skills.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Photoshop and InDesign is preferred but not required.

Social Media Skills:

Advanced understanding of social media strategies, social media protocol, solid judgment, financial literacy, and the ability to monitor social media networks. Thorough knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google Plus, third-party advertising, and reporting tools.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, understand, and carry out instructions in written and oral form.

Communication Skills: Excellent presentation, listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Strong project management skills and ability to work under deadline pressure. Ability to organize and prioritize efficiently, with the capacity to work extra hours if needed. Proactive, self-starter, self-manager, and tenacious in problem-solving. Highly creative, energetic, imaginative, with strong conceptual skills. Physical Demands:

Ability to talk, hear, sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms consistently. Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and crouch occasionally.

Vision Requirements:

Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) and distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).

Weight Lifted or Force Exerted:

Ability to lift up to 10 pounds consistently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
