Purpose:

The Director of Visual Merchandising will lead the creation, development, and execution of innovative visual strategies that reflect Diesel's brand identity and commercial goals across the North America market. This role is responsible for ensuring compelling product presentations and store environments that enhance customer experience and drive retail performance. The Director will work cross-functionally with Global HQ teams to align merchandising, marketing, and visual communications while managing all visual merchandising aspects from concept to execution, within the defined budgets and timelines.

Responsibilities:

Visual Merchandising Strategy & Execution

Lead the ideation, design, and implementation of visual merchandising strategies, including window displays, in-store layouts, showroom, and promotional presentations.Align visual merchandising with corporate and regional marketing strategies to create cohesive customer experiences.Ensure all visual merchandising initiatives support store traffic, conversion, and brand integrity.Conduct competitor analysis and industry trend reviews to inform visual decisions and maintain innovation in presentation.Budget & Resource Management

Develop and manage the visual merchandising budget, ensuring alignment with financial objectives while optimizing resource allocation.Oversee cost management for materials, shipping, packaging, and installation processes.Collaborate with procurement to negotiate vendor agreements, ensuring cost-effective sourcing of fixtures and materials.Leadership & Team Development

Lead, mentor, and develop regional visual merchandisers while promoting creativity and adherence to brand standards.Set individual and team goals, and oversee performance management, professional development, and succession planning.Foster collaboration within the team and with cross-functional departments to optimize workflow and achieve project milestones.Cross-functional Collaboration

Partner closely with the marketing and buying teams to ensure that visual displays align with current campaigns, product launches, and promotional calendars.Work with the store planning and operations teams to manage store design, signage, fixtures, and layouts, ensuring consistency across new and existing stores.Serve as a bridge between corporate and store-level teams to communicate directives and ensure smooth implementation.Project & Event Management

Oversee store openings, remodels, and large-scale merchandising projects, ensuring all visual elements are delivered on time, within scope, and meet quality standards.Manage visual merchandising for special events, pop-ups, and seasonal campaigns, creating impactful presentations that elevate brand presence.Showroom display and presentation essentials. Layout design, visual merchandising, product arrangement, branding and maintenance.Regularly visit stores to audit visual standards and provide feedback, ensuring adherence to guidelines and identifying areas for improvement.Market Analysis & Reporting

Conduct regular analysis of external retail and visual merchandising trends to identify opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage.Provide monthly status reports to HQ, summarizing visual merchandising activities, budget tracking, and project outcomes.Analyze performance data, providing actionable insights to continuously improve visual merchandising effectiveness.Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in visual merchandising, fashion, design, or a related field; or equivalent experience.7+ years of experience in visual merchandising, including leadership roles within fashion, luxury retail, or lifestyle brands.Strong project management skills, with a proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and teams in a fast-paced environment.Expertise in visual merchandising tools and techniques, including product placement, cross-merchandising, and rigging.Ability to balance creativity with commercial goals and brand strategy.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite, and visual design tools.Knowledge of retail trends, customer behavior, and in-store marketing strategies.Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across different functions and levels.Proven experience managing budgets and delivering projects on time and within scope.Key Attributes:

Salary Range: $130-140k
