JOB SUMMARY

We are excited to welcome an additional talented Mechanical Designer to our expanding team. In this role you will be responsible for creating precise, complete, and accurate working plans and detailed drawings. You will collaborate closely with our engineering team, Project Managers and customers to develop reliable products to serve our customers’ needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Identifies factors affecting project design as instructed in design review meetings, and by using information provided by the engineer.

Uses knowledge of manufacturing methods, materials, etc., in developing designs and confers with other departments as necessary to ensure integrity and manufacturability.

Prepares drawings and is responsible for resolving associated mechanical and fabrication problems.

Participates in designing special modifications to existing parts.

Creates and edits drawings using current AutoCAD and Inventor software.

Forwards drawings to engineer for preliminary review and approval and makes changes and corrections as needed before being sent to customer for approval.

Notifies engineer of any updates needed to bill of material as drawings are developed.

Ensures accuracy of work by checking dimensions, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and of various parts to the entire project.

Understands established standards, follows them, and suggests improvements when possible.

Notifies the appropriate personnel when other activities are ready to be performed during the design process (material updates, design checks, obtaining load calculation certifications, etc.).

Forwards final checked drawings to engineer.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or GED required.

Associate’s degree preferred.

1 to 2 years of experience required.

Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor or SolidWorks preferred.

Or equivalent combination of education and experience
